New shooters

I am reasonably new to this forum, (about 1 year), and I believe it is generally friendly. I am on some other forums where you have to put on a flame suit every time you post. Most of the shooters here are gentlemen, and answer the questions of us newbies honestly and with no rancor. Those who do not, you simply learn to ignore.

That's good to hear. It's almost as if every forum is like that. There's those who know it all and are bitter old men but then there are those who truly want to help and further this art while not allowing it to die out.

I belong to several forums and there's one in particular that is just an amazing, fun, and family oriented forum where people are beyond generous. Not limited to their knowledge either. If you've been a member there for a while and need something, guys might just up and send it to you. It really made me get into the whole pay it forward and give. I've given away several treestand harnesses and even paid for shipping just to keep people safe who may not have them, as well as other things. People have sent me various items that you'd drop your jaw over. For instance, one young gentleman recently sent me 12 SteelForce 145gr Phat Head broadheads because I'm a vet. That was extremely generous of him.

Actually, one of the greatest and kindest shows of generosity came from a man who I met on another forum and who is also a member of this forum. He contacted me through a private message when I first began reloading. He then sent me a huge box of stuff to get me started and spent hours on the phone and through messaging to get me on the right track. That's something that I'll never forget. The amount of detailed information that he gave me was worth so much.

So yes, I completely understand that there are some amazing people out there who give our society hope in these dark times.

Don't get discouraged. There are rude people out there, including this forum. Pay attention to members like Boyd Allen and you will enjoy the website as well as the sport. Most of the members are a class act...some not so much.

Very good advice! It doesn't take very much time to determine who is trying to help vs. those who just like to see their name & opinions on the screen!
