Want an example of why to true an action? Heres why!

You said I have sloppy bad fitting and excessive movement that cock harder .
I can tell you I don't my fireing pin I have reduced the mass weight 30 percent the spring he a double shelled cage bearing on it The lift cam has the ramp changed along with a sleeve that turns not slides like others do when closing the bolt head moves .006 All moving parts are coated with a high friction less coating . The trigger seat is adjusted with a Allen set The trigger don't de cock because the action has Been fixed . Because the bolt cocks on lift it is timed to where it closes easy Larry

This discussion has caused me to pull my 110 out and do a lot of studying of it and now I have a question. My 110 is an older model that has the bolt alignment cut in the bolt head. Is there any advantage or disadvantage to having this? My first thought is it has to help but if it does why do the newer models not have it?

I don't have a pre accura trigger . But I think the bolt is the same . Larry

The old boltheads were keyed to prevent them being installed 180 out during production. I forget when it was dropped, around 2000 IIRC.

"Yes, it's called an "Accutrigger".

Preamble: The opinions expressed here are in no way meant to demean or be offensive to any member holding a different opinion. In the interest of full disclosure I do enjoy shooting my no nut Pacnor/Masterclass/PTA/ Evolution trigger 6.5x47L but I would not go down that road again.

I know better, but I have had so many belly laughs out of this and the custom action thread that I have to comment. Anyone who has shot a good (IE real) two stage service rifle trigger or an Anschutz 2 stage trigger may well disagree. And yes I have a PTA Accu-Trigger in a box that was replaced by a SSS Evolution trigger and several great 2 stage triggers in M1-a's and a Jewel 2 stage in the AR as well as an Anschutz 2 stage in a bat wing safety prone rifle. A close examination of the crazy sear arrangement on the Savage action may give a clue as to why the after marked for savage triggers has limited players, the reason sure isn't that Savage triggers of any origin are great. Good or better than factory but not great.

Now I will dig out some of my old iron pouring heat gear and withstand the flames that are sure to come. Will most likely be a lot more laughs there also.

I too enjoy the humor, and try to inject a little now and then to keep things on the lighter side. Some readers "get it", some don't.

I have owned many two stage triggers over the years, and a good one is a thing of beauty to squeeze. But all of the ones I owned, mostly Mannlicher Schoenauer's, were designed for hunting or combat where "close" was good enough.

I spent today at the range, shooting instead of typing. What a refreshing change.

I have set triggers on some of my guns. Larry

At one time, I owned many Mannlichers. Most were commercial Shoenauers with DST's, a few were custom order single two stage, but the smoothest two stage trigger was on the Greek Military 1903. Incredible when you realize the Shoenauer's were all hand built in Steyr by Waffen Meister's and the Greeks were mass produced at several locations.

Since were on the subject of whose triggers are good and bad, any of you guys use a cz single set? Ive never had one and am very intrested. I know the guys on saubier love them!

I have owned CZ's and Steyr Mannlichers Luxus, which had similar setups. The mechanism is based on a spring loaded bar that is loaded when you "set" the trigger and that "slaps" the sear when released (think of a mousetrap). The old double set triggers worked on similar principle, but were much more complex and difficult (read: expensive) to manufacture.
These were designed for hunting, not target shooting. Remember that this website is called "accurateshooter", not "hunter". There is additional "lock-time" and vibration in this mechanism "in addition to" the lock-time in the firing pin. Together, they provide a lot of time for the muzzle to move.

Where is Phil3?

Ray

Right here. I have shot a Savage Precision Target Action based rifle. I found the Accu-Trigger fine for my kind of shooting, in this case, a bag front and rear. I did not find the trigger a real hindrance. It is incomparable to a 2 oz. Jewell, but then I don't shoot BR or free recoil. The Savage works for me and my kind of shooting, and if I become unsatisfied, will change the trigger or move to another action if the only choice.
