That's interesting. I was at a match a couple weeks ago and there was a Father and daughter sharing a suppressed 223. It was incredibly quiet. The 17 Rem and Mach IV being a little less on the noisy side I would think would work really well suppressed. Any thoughts on why their still noisy?I have a 17 Mach IV and a few 20's. Suppressors are fine but still noisy.

Cool, I learned something today! Thanks.Bullet velocity. It's weird but with the high velocity cases like a 17rem or a 204 you hear the bullet noise much more than a 223
If it's not all that quite maybe I would be better off spending my money on another custom barrel..I was just thinking it would be an awesome set up to have a great rifle in 17 rem suppressed..it's alot of money to spend for what it does.. especially if I still need hearing protection..after working construction for 27 years, I can't afford any more hearing loss..
Exactly my op toSuppressors only really suppress subsonic ammo. They take the bang of the rifle out, but the supersonic flight of the bullet still produces a sonic boom that is loud. IMO it isnt worth having a suppressor and shooting full power ammo. They only work very well for what they arent intended for - subsonic ammo...
And ill reinterate.. with full power loads, yes the bang of the rifle is quieter, but as a whole its all still loud.
If that bothers you, yes money would be better spent on a another barrel... jmo
