My new F-open stock

Here is a pic of the final design on what I will be selling as my f-open stock. The bore and bag riding surfaces will all be parallel. Price will be $500 for an inletted blank. I used the first one on my own open rig. I think it will be great for the guys who prefer more of a free recoil type of shooting. It is also available in an adjustable cheek/butt version.DSC_0184.JPG

Alex, $500 will be semi inletted? Clear coated? Also what is the price with adjustable cheek, will it be magnetic removal?

$500 will be a 90% inlett. You will need to do minor fitting as well as cut the bolt handle and ports. My clear coat guy get $300. He is a full time body man, so you get an auto finish. I can use any hardware you want. Stock with both adjustments will be around $800

Alex,

I'm interested. What is the vertical distance from the front bag riding surface to the bottom of the barrel? I'm always interested in getting lower...

Will it take a BBL block ? or a 1.450 str.bbl ?

Alex,

Are you seriously wearing yoga pants in that picture? :D

Guys, Alex is pretty decent at designing some good shooting stocks. The benchrest designs have done a lot of winning in only 2 seasons and some record setting to boot. If I want another f-class stock, or decide on 3" again for benchrest, I'll be trying one!

Tom

Pretty sure that design has been out there for a while. Also you need to check into using the "Lowrider" name. I'm pretty sure it has a copyright.

Alex, I am glad to see another option for getting stocks.

Ok, maybe it wont be called lowrider :) I'll look into it. The design hasnt been out as I cut that stock myself and gave the dimensions to my stock guy to make the future blanks. Its most similar to the Mcmillan f-class.

It is .8" from the bottom of the barrel to the bottom of the stock. Color choices will vary with availability. I have brown/brown and grey/grey ordered now. I am trying to get some blue and more of the red.

Thanks Alex, any chance at a Green/Brown/Grey? Would be just like the one pictured in your gallery, third one up from the bottom of the page.

I did a quick check whether there is a trademark issued for Lowrider as a name for rifle stocks on the USPTO site at http://tmsearch.uspto.gov and I did not find one so the name may be up for grabs as a trademark of a stock. Yes the name has been used by others and some claim to have a trademark on it but it does not seem to show up on the site that keeps track of them. Don't take my word for it either search it yourself or have someone knowledgeable search it for you if interested.

Thanks for checking. I see now that Shurley bros calls one by that name. The name is irrelivent to me really. So now its just a Wheeler f-open :)

I have my stock maker looking for more colors as well.
