6 br extractor question

I have a 6 br , stiller viper action, .262 neck, 20" barrel, 1 in 13 twist, 4 groove cut rifling Mark Chanlyn barrel, jewel trigger, stock by Speedy Gonzales gun shoots great. the problem I am having is every now and then the extractor will not extract a fired case. have tried 0 shoulder set back, to .002 set back, and still the same intermittent problem. if I remove the bolt and manually insert the case into the extractor the problem goes away. no marks on case in that area, have 100 rounds fired through it. any thoughts on this, thanks

Have some one competent file the front of the extractor hook .002"-.003" forward. Probably need a diamond file to do it.

Jerry Stiller will take care of you. Just call him..

Had bolt problems...handle peeled off, so they fitted a new complete bolt, and timing issue was also fixed.. mine was a early version action. A few changes have been made to them since I got mine.

They'll get you fixed up. As was mentioned, there are at least 3 versions of the Vipers and at least 2 different style extractors. I'm guessing you have a "B" prefix action with a Remington style extractor, that's worn out or just "sprung" out of shape for some reason. Just because, that's a somewhat common problem with a Remington...especially if it's had a high pressure load with hard extraction, in the past. If so, a new extractor is an easy fix and they'll hook you right up. Is yours a drop port? I love them! It's really hard to find a better action than a drop port viper, IMO. Either way, Jerry and Russ are good to deal with.

it is a right bolt left port viper aluminum action. it was built 10 years ago for a man by a smith called Bob White in NJ . due to medical reasons the man that had it built never got to shoot it and passed on, that is how I came into possession of the rifle. I have only put 150 rounds thru it so it should not be from wear, or a high pressure load which I have not done. the gun shoots very well. no doubt they will get it fixed. just a minor bump in the road. thanks again for the feedback
