Forster dies for SAAMI chamber?

Getting my 30-06 rebuilt and decided it's time to upgrade my dies. Is it worth it to get custom honed forster sizing die for a SAAMI spec chamber? New barrel is a Criterion 1:10. I plan to stick to one brand and lot of brass for this gun, I have a couple hundred cases already, so I was considering sending in some fired cases for a honed die.

Not worth it - get an "Off the shelf" die set (FL, Bump, and ultra seater) and don't worry.

Get a Forster FL die honed to give about .003 squeeze on the neck and use an expander to open it about .001 to .0015
The custom honing used to cost only an extra $10. I could not find a current price for it.

You're headed in the right direction. Honed FL sizing die and the standard BR seating die. The micrometer top seating dies are nice, but not at all needed.

I already have RCBS FL, neck and seater die that I've borrowed from my dad when needed, but I didn't shoot this rifle a whole lot before because it needed the work done. I do plan to shoot it more now, I was thinking of the honed FL die. I thought I saw on their site it still is $10 for the honing and I can shoulder bump with the FL die as well.

I'll think about it some more and once I'm done with the rifle I shoot some factory ammo (same brand brass) or just load a few and send them in to have a die honed at time of purchase.

Remove the expander vibes, size the brass you’ll be shootin’, measure how much die sized the neck way smaller than necessary so you can then figger how much you want ‘em to hone out the die’s neck. They’ll hone the die’s neck to the size you specify, and if you want, they’ll dust a little off the expander ball.

We custom hone the inside neck diameter by using a diamond stoning process. We enlarge the inside diameter to prevent over-sizing of the case neck due to thick neck walls. You may require this service for two reasons: 1) If you use some brands of brass cases, such as Norma or Lapua, which have thicker neck walls. 2) If you do not intend to outside neck turn case necks that have thickened after repeated firings. Please specify desired inside neck diameter. Note: 1) No more than .008" stock removal from your existing die neck diameter is possible. 2) Honing is done in increments of one half thousandth of an inch (.0005"), meaning that your specified inside diameter must be either.XXX0" or .XXX5".
