Electronic Scoring ?

Question about the electronic scoring. I've not shot with these before or even seen what they look like...so...Is someone in the pits still marking the shots and scoring as normal or is it all electronic? I read on here that you use your own phone or tablet. Is this set up all wi-fi or using your data plan ? How do you transfer scores ? Is there tablets available for use at the ranges ? What else did I forget to ask ?

The details depend on the system.

On the Kongsberg system at Talladega, the range has wired monitors, so there is no need of wi fi or any personal electronic device.

There are no pits, all the shooters and personnel are on the firing line. At least in the electronic F-Class, there are no paper targets.

If you are thinking of a specific location, someone can probably give you better info specific to that location. There are several variations on how these systems work and how they are used.

At lodi we are using wi-fi tablets.
In f-class electronic targets are supposed to be the proper paper target per nra rule.
It will be unnecessary to have anyone in the pits.
You will be assigned a competitor number and a tablet at match time. You will always have the same competitor number. Once you and your scorer are signed into the system for the correct duty (shooter or scorer, this is where you enter your competitor number) you are set up to commence fire.
As you fire each shot comes up on the screen where it landed, what number it is as well as if it is a sighter or not.
Once you are done firing you sign off and your score is sent to the stat office.

I shot a match at Camp Atterbury on the Silver Mountain targets, they worked wonderfully and best of all, no pit duty!

I have a question on the scoring end of things. Is the system at Lodi going to be caliber specific per shooter? Or does the system assume everyone is shooting a standard caliber?

As far as I know the system only picks up the sound from a supersonic bullet. We don't tell the system what caliber is assigned to the target.

Interesting, so the small calibers will score the same as the large calibers, without having to pay the price that the larger calibers pay namely recoil.

That's how it's been done pretty well everywhere else under other nations' rules & now is included in ICFRA international rules. On paper targets, close shots are adjudicated with a .308" plug.

In any case, I don't imagine that accoustic sensors could determine the caliber of the shot going through the target.

If you are not shooting or scoring you can watch any target on the firing line. Once the shooter is done with the string and the score is in the stat office the target will clear itself for the next relay.
Midrange is sept. 23-27
Long range is sept 27-Oct 1

The question above about the size of the hole for scoring. It is set to default .30cal. There is a way you "supposedly" can go in and change it, but I don't know and I haven't asked. This is on our G2 system and the Lodi system would be the same way. Essentially what is being used is the old .30cal rule where every hit got plugged as a .30cal regardless of what was shot.
