I have agonized with my fair share of load development failures. When I finally finding one that does work, But only after several trips to the range and components that seemingly to be depleted into thin air.
Well, yesterday was not one of those days. The two things I can contribute it to is to the experienced posters on this form, and my cement head finally softening up to take in the information that has been posted.
I loaded 2 different powders with 130 Bergers in my Browning BAR in 270 win. One was IMR 7828, and WXR, (Reloader 22). I wanted a windy day yote rig that used expanding bullets. I found a very good IMR load w/135 SMK's, but they tend not to expand on yotes. I am hoping the 130 VLD hunting bullets do however.
I loaded 3 each of different charges of the WXR. I did the round robin at 100 yards. The first 2 did not group very well. The third grouped 3/16'' x 5/16''. I know this doesn't stand up to going long range yet, but it is a good start. I did not even test the 7828 loads. I could not of have this quick and successful load development w/o the posters on this forum. I humbly say 'Thank You' to all of you. I have been through the loading room wars. It wasn't easy.
