6ppc fire forming load

I have never shot 6ppc before, so wanted to know where to start.

I turned some 220 Russian cases, and have some LT32. I see loads around 28, so I figured I would fire form using 27 grains. I tossed 27 grains in a case fast and it filled it to the top. So I dumped it, threw it again with a long tube and it went half way up the neck. That seems to much since the case is not yet formed.

Where should I start with LT32 just to free-form them? Should I shoot them twice at xxxxx fire forming load? Or once with fire forming load, and then start working them to find my load?

25 of LT is plenty for first firing with the bullet jammed hard. After the first forming I start full load testing.

Using a 68gr bullet, 27gr of LT 32 is the best load I've found for a 6 Beggs, which is essentially what you are starting with. Although I usually form new brass with pistol powder and no bullet, occasionally I'll neck turn and firm form during a UBR match. I've found the accuracy to be close, if not the same, using the Beggs load in a PPC chamber.

YMMV,
Rick

They formed just fine. 25 grn LT32 and a hard jam.

There is a line half way down the case on the loaded round.......What do you think it's from ?
Probably from the 45 min ride to the range that the loaded round was in that alum ammo holder in the floor board of my truck. I just pulled the rounds I didn't get to fire form that day, and some of them have that line too. It also lines exactly up with the top of the surface of the loading tray.

Fill up with clays or clay dot and cap with clay. Blows out perfect and no wasted bullets or N133!
