PT&G problems - Advice or help

I think a lot of this frustration comes from the wait time when people think things are in stock. I believe if people knew on the site that item was out, they may not order because of wait time. I have to say, I have had to wait for some things on order, but have always received them. I think the quality of stuff PT&G offers is top notch. I have had some discrepancies on Reamers not being what the print was that I approved. I was offered to send the reamer back for a replacement to fix the discrepancy.
They have always been helpful when I talked to them, or transferred me to Pete or somebody with technical questions. I have a thousand dollar order in with them now, but not for a reamer. The Reamers I do have cut true and are very sharp, excellent quality, but just not the +/- .001" tolerance I would expect. I wish the reamer conundrums were as great quality as the rest of their products.
Thanks, Dave

I have a few more people contact me by pm over the last few weeks, for the most part, the issues have been very minor. If there is anyone else thats needs an order looked at or a print sent let me know and I will track them down.

I saw this thread last Friday, emailed Don Sat morning, received an answer Monday morning, and my order was shipped today. Maybe Don should take over the day to day management over there. ;-)
Thanks

Ken, thank you for the complements we are trying. The managers at PTG are very busy, and I have a lot to do maintaining the website and adding new product. PTG does care about its customers, but sometimes things happen. So far it's been pretty simple to make things right or put an order back on track.

Another Thanks for everything your doing. I will go a long way.

Thanks, Dennis

This is what PT&G has needed all along, someone who cares enough to get back to you on and in a timely fashion. If PT&G had more Dons working customer service......................................Well, you know what I mean.
Thanks for your hard work Don, now if you could show others the way

You are welcome. Tell Dave K to give you more money.

Don, keep doing what you're doing. PTG has to throw as many knowledgeable people on this as needed. Dave doesn't have to be so busy he loses control of he business. There are people he could hire that understand reamers, prints and changes to prints (just like he does). (I do not mean girls taking down notes for Dave that he will never answer) Reamer orders etc, seem to be his weak spot.

I just received my 17 WSM reamer,
chambered 1 bbl so far, and it is perfect.

I had to get a hold of Pete and he got the ball rolling,
after explaining what I wanted done to the reamer.

Thanks PTG.

Tia,
Don

I'd like to add this comment... Get use to it! I work and I see the new hires.. The days of someone giving a shit about quality is gone. Machine shops here in the Saginaw valley could hire and fire all day long.
Those days are gone and they take what they can get. i wish I could say something positive.

As for PT and G, glad I had money in the bank, long after I canceled. My reamers showed up and a kindly deduction from my account was shown.

Talked to Paul Becigneul, last Saturday, he asked me where I get my reamers.??? Answers anywhere but PT&G, for now

I had a credit card on file with PTG and they charged it twice without my authorization. When I called to get the discrepancy fixed they gave me the runaround and ultimately stopped returning my calls. The simple fix was to dispute the transaction with my credit card company. I have items including reamers and crowning tools from PTG that I like, I sure hope they get things back on track at some point. Every company can make mistakes from time to time, it's how you handle things after the mistake that make the difference between you and your competition. After experiencing problems with PTG I started doing most of my business with JGS, while they are more expensive I get what I order and don't have any billing discrepancies.

They lost my order 3 times and that's the very short story. It's a few weeks shy of 6 months and I'm still waiting on a go gauge for a standard caliber..... It was supposed to ship 6 days ago but still no word. They are in absolutely no hurry to to try and keep customers happy let alone even appologise. The wheels seem to have completely fallen off at PTG. Only a few years ago they were a great company. How long they can survive like this?

If you would like to contact me with an order number and a real name. I will see what I can do to get the orders straightened out. If you prefer Dave's direct email was listed earlier in the thread on post 58. Shawn, I did look at your order. They still have it in the gauge dept, they will have it finished this week. The gauge dept is behind with a machine down and they are working hard to catch back up.

There are several on here that state they haven't been taken care of! I was going to stay off this but will bite. I tried to order two reamers several months ago. I talked to a NEW girl every day; none knew what the other had done. I even talked to Dave. He said that the reamers were possibly in stock and to have the "girls" ship them. I was transferred back and told them I wanted to order said reamers. She said she would have to go check to see if they were in stock. I told her I would wait. I was put on hold and after a minute or two the phone was disconnected. I called back and nobody had any idea what I was talking about- even the girl I had just talked to. Finally one of them said she would call me back with the order. I never got a call back. I called three more days in a row and nobody could give me a straight answer or ship me a simple reamer with a stock number. I finally gave up and ordered from JGS. Now I have found a company that actually has real people working there instead of just phone anwerers.

Sound almost identical to the problems I was having, only difference was i never received a phone call from Dave two different times that I was promised. In Daves defense, he may have never gotten the messages to call me either....I also went to JGS.

Tony.

Don, thank you for the update.

Dave wanted me to pass along the information that he is visiting some of our bigger clients on the east coast and will be out of the office. If there is something that is urgent contact me and I will pass his cell number on, but please use the number with discretion as he has several meetings per day.

You can call 541-826-5808 ask for Don. I am away from my desk a lot so if that happens give someone your number or PM me here and I will call you back. I dont have a voicemail account setup because officially I am suppose to be working on the website fulltime, but I dont mind lending a helping hand when orders get off track.

When you have quality competitors in the marketplace, you have options. Take advantage of those options. Quality and reasonable time delivery is worth the additional cost, especially when you receive what you have ordered.
