PT&G problems - Advice or help

PTG still makes some great stuff. Dave supplies the industry with a lot. I buy bottom metal, mags, some bolt parts, exc. You cant be in a hurry thats for sure. I have not had good luck with his reamers, so I dont buy that particular item from them. Still a good source for some parts if your not in a hurry.

Placed prominently upon the desk of my first ever boss/owner was a plaque that read "The Speed of the Boss, is the Speed of the Gang". This was nearly 50 years ago and I have never forgotten that. Take this bit of wisdom however you see fit.

I still have the 90 year old plaque that hung in my Grandfather's shop. "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me."

I ordered a rem. 223 issf reamer from ptg got it in six weeks.I don't know a darn thing about reamers but it looks good twisted it in my hand to check and see if it had any burrs felt good.We will see when I send a barrel and reamer in.

I have purchased from PT&G for several years. Yes some things have changed in the last few years, but so has Dave's company. He has grown to the size that he currently is for reasons that are pretty evident. He furnishes our industry/sport with many, many products, and the argument could be made that they are sold for a reasonable price. He may possibly be one of the reasons, that some of the products we use and must have for gunwork/gunsmithing is as affordable as it is. PT&G sells so many items besides reamers, and many of these items are hard to find anywhere else, and if found somewhere else they are priced much higher than PT&G. For example, custom bolts, lugs, mags, mandrels, bushings, fixtures, and the list goes on and on. PT&G is having some bad growing pains and I too have had to deal with the problems. However, I don't forget what they have done and continue to do to furnish products that make gunwork easier and quicker. It was sure nice when you could call and speak to Dave for as long as necessary for a reamer design or product that he offered, but under the circumstances I understand why that can't happen anymore. I continue to support PT&G because they continue to support what I enjoy doing.

I called PTG a few weeks ago pertaining to a question on an item I purchased of theirs from Midway USA. I talked to the receptionist, Ashley, and she stated she would relay the message to one of their specialists to call me back. I waited a day and there was no response. I then called back and Ashley gave me an arrogant response stating I didn't talk to her and it was someone else, but she said she left a specialist know and to contact me back. At any event, I never received a response from PTG's specialist two times and was assured I would. What did I do? I sent the item back to Midway USA and I purchased another product from another manufacturer. My smith also ordered from PTG before and stated it took months for them to send out orders when it was listed on stock. PTG wont be getting any of my business ever again regardless of what anyone says about them.

I have bought 4 of the PTG steel or stainless remington factory bottom metals and some other lugs and bolt shrouds etc. I really liked these products and found them to be of great quality.
I never recieved any emails or calls to approve any reamer print prior to grinding and taking some measurements off the reamer is not sufficient for whidden to make the dies.
After my frustration finding out that he had two different reamer prints once the reamer was recieved I am not even sure now what the heck I have and more than likely will have to send fired cases to whidden after the guns built. I'm probably going to miss most of my varmint season.
This post really has turned over a lot of frustration on the forum and all I originally was hoping that someone with a good relationship with PTG may be able to get the reamer print and help me out.
Doesn't seem like there's anyone
..... ....
I did call again today ..... And no luck again.

I had to find a reamer print for a new Warner Tool die, so emailed JGS for it, and inside of 20 minutes I had the print on the computer, and on the way to Warner Tool.
Thats why I do all my business I can with them.....
PT&G is still trying to figure out how to fix the refund problem that happened when they applied it to my OLD card....
Told me to call the CC company and have them figure it out...
CC company told me it to have them apply it to my new card or send me a check, seems simple enough....
Not heard from them about it.....

I have ordered from them on several occasions. I have always eventually gotten what I ordered, (reamers, bolt, bottom metal, etc..) but I have never gotten it with out having to call more than once to get it straightened out, and it has never been when they committed to deliver it. YMMV

FWIW. Got an email today saying my account was credited for the bottom metal that hasn't ever showed up. Wish it would have been the part I needed to finish my build , but at least they returned my money.

I truly hope they get the total Comunication Breakdown fixed . As the do offer great parts at very reasonable prices. I'd use them again , they just need to get some things fixed first. The only problem I've had is Comunication that can be easily overcome.

It's amazing how bad PTG has become! What's even more amazing is how Dave Kiff keeps his head in the sand while his former stellar image is going down the shitter.

Years ago before the business was the size it is now Dave ran a tight ship and was the premier "person" to call for a reamer, however that was then and this is "NOW"!

It truly is sad to witness this implosion of a company/man that, not too long ago, was held in high esteem and near the top of the industry.

The bimbo curtain is tough to work around, and there are some very competent people working at PTG.

Dave Kiff has been a great help to me on many occasions, his advise is gold. Bimbo's degrade his business...we are diminished.

I had basically the same things happen to me also when I tried to order my reamer.

Finally gave up and cancelled my order and placed an order with JGS. No complaints what so ever with JGS.
