picked up a 243 barrel due to having 12 lbs of h1000 setting on the shelf. going to use it for steel matches in MO. gotta get brass....now usually this is a no brainer...Lapua but saw some win brass in stock locally cheap...how is the win 243 brass?

Just got 200 pieces tonight so I'm going to find out, it was $22 for a bag of 50. Last year I shot some Winchester brass that was about 15 years old at the matches and it was very nice brass, hoping this new stuff is decent. I've got some new Norma, Rem, and Fed here also. Premium 243 brass at todays prices is nearing a buck a piece. Never though I'd see these prices and tight supply. Might not even use the stuff I got tonight but a guy has to stay ahead on inventory.

What do the necks measures on the win brass?

I grabbed a tubing mic and did some quick spot checks, looks like most at .014 to .0145. I got a couple spots on one or two cases at .0135 and a couple spots a shade under.015. I'm not sure how accurate this might be, I normally use a dial indicator set up on a neck mandrel when I measure case necks that have been sized, a expander pushed into the neck and then de burred. I don't have that stuff out and these are cases with no work done to them. Just wanted to get some quick numbers.

It's only accurate (on un-turned brass) if you use a depth stop on the mic. You must read the same distance from the case mouth around the circumference, as the neck walls are tapered in thickness
