I've decided to buy 10,000 bullets all at once from the same lot

Hi Guys,
I'm tired of having to re-develop loads every time I get a new batch of components, so I've decided to buy 10,000 200 grain Berger hybrid bullets all at once from the same lot. The problem is that most retailers don't stock that kind of volume and those that do won't sell me that many all at one time.

Can anyone offer any leads?

Thanks,

Joe

Go ask Berger directly. They will direct to who has those in quantity, or to a master dealer who can order you that many and have them shipped for you.

Maybe become a dealer and buy direct from Berger? You'd be buying wholesale instead of paying retail.

Not a bad idea, since most of the guys at the range are always scrounging around for them.

Thanks

You really think youre gonna get 10,000 that you could call a lot? Not that much lead on a spool or jacket cups on a roll. Last lot i seen had a box of 80 something 6.5 140gr bullets in a 105 hybrid box right in the middle

Years ago I made a large buy, not Berger. Shipped directly from the manufacturer and billed me through a wholesaler of my choice. I'd give Berger a shout.

How many barrels you gonna go thru to use that many pills? You will need to develop loads with each new barrel.

Well, it shouldn't take much fine tuning since my gunsmith will be using the same reamer. I'm hoping 3 barrels will do it.

I'm kind of slow, but I just realized that I'm supposed to be using a custom bullet maker to get the same lot and not off the shelf stuff. Silly me, everything else I'm using is custom, why not bullets? All I need now is some Custom Varget;).

In my humble opinion Stop wasting time and money doing useless load development.

I'm with the others, if you can't find a distributor, I'd contact the Manf for suggestions. Keep qty open for your needs, but 10K will pique their interest (group buy?)

As a weekend racer, I contact Manf. For 2 sets of tires and contingency info; Berger will certainly assist you, and more so for a 10k buy. If this is a lifetime buy, finding a distributor to help with transaction will be easier, along with Berger's help.

As far as becoming a dealer, my local mom and pop store looked into it a couple of years ago. He was told by Berger that the initial order would need to be $25,000.00 or greater to get your foot in the door.

I did contact Berger I was told that I could get a group discount of $53/100. Since Powder Valley sells them for $45 and Bullets.com for $47 I wasn't impressed with their response.

I'll probably go with JLK because I've used their 180s and was thrilled with their consistency and performance. Sorting was unnecessary, but I wasn't thrilled with their lead time because I had to order six months ahead of time. But I think I've come around and readjusted my thinking. I used to think that buying in large quantities was financially burdensome, now I see that the benefit of buying all from one lot.

I appreciate you taking the time to respond.

You're more than welcome Joe. Thank you for posting results, I would have expected better; but business can be that way sometimes. At a volume of 10k, it's buying a commodity and various places respond differently to an increase in business. To others; I'll still get Berger, but JLK remains my surprise secret anyway and I'm glad they'll get some more business.

Thanks for helping the industry!

These days your custom bullet maker can get jackets from bart- 100,000 at a time if you want. He has em for the 105 class 6mm bullets and he dont hold his jackets hostage to other bullet makers. Your bullet maker already gets jackets from him anyway so have them get a lot together for you.

Two things; first, Berger's price may be shipped, check with them to make sure, Sierra's direct prices are.

Second, I did what you want to do now, you should first buy a hundred to make sure they work. I bought a bunch a few years ago and couldn't get them to work in 2 different Barrels. Ended up selling all of them. I believe once you find a great bullet it will work in many Barrels, may take fine tuning but they will work.

Last year I found a good lot, it works in my dasher, 6br and a friend's 6br. I bought all he had, but I first bought a 100 to see if they worked
