MCRS Tactical - F-Open stock

Hey guys, I am considering buying an MCRS F-Open stock. Just looking for any feedback anyone on here might have regarding the quality of the product and how they found MCRS to deal with. Cheers.

the ones for ATRS were done and not finished as the fellows who left ATRS after stealing the technical data and then telling Chris to not deal with ATRS as they would screw him, so since he had already made the appointment he took a Unfinished stock so as not to get a further order. Chris then learned the truth that the guys who left ATRS in a hurry were a duo of liars and thieves. Chris has not been back to ATRS as they deal mostly with Macmillan and do not wish to deal in wood stocks.

I have 8 of his wood ones and a couple of them have shot well in real world f-class. I set a 600 yard record in Saskatchwan for f-class and another fellow uses them and shot for Canada at the Canadians in 2015 at Ottawa for the team event where the Americans were beat by us Canucks.

so buy them with confidence or not your choice, mine may be on the line at the worlds if I make the cut, and so will bob's, we trust them as they are stable and track well,

(I hold and have held a dozens of BR records in Canada over the last 15 years so have a little knowledge of what it takes to make real gun shoot

Thanks for that Jefferson, so to conclude, as far as you are aware, the current production quality of these stocks is top-notch?

yes subject to the following down below

Bob and I are still on the list for the Canadian FTR team and use his stocks or our style that we got him to do up. Bob has one or more stocks he did up before mcrs.

In any venture someone can have an off day. I do not get bonus points or free stocks for my thoughts and I am putting MY REPUTATION on the line when I make statements like this. If he does part and the machine does not break and the wood YOU PROVIDE IS DRY or he supplies the wood you are good to go,

and he can get some really nice wood

I have just boxed4 stocks to send to Robertson for final CLEAR finish and 2 to go to bobs place for final clear finish or I could take some pictures and get someone to post them here,

perhaps when they are all done I will do that

once again I do not have control of final product and with wood the speed at which you cut them can cause splinters so with some wood it is a crapshoot, also how deep does your gunsmith bed the action compared to others makes a difference

so there are many factors on getting a completed stock I could not guarantee the final product,

with macmillan they have moulds so if there mould is not too badly worn and the guy putting the stuff into the mould you get a good product but \I have had garbage stocks from them as well over the years

so if things work out you will be pleased, if the wood is garbage or his bit breaks there will be a hiccup

but I would not have spent over 9g in stocks from him if they are garbage, I designed the JTR BR stock Robertson's composite and know stocks,

good luck whatever you choose, this sport is important to us and stocks one of the key components

would like to know what Calgary Canada thinks and talk to him on the FTR range this year

all knowledge is good, but to hit the V bull is priceless

later eh

Thanks very much for your response and information Jefferson. I'll go ahead with it and give it a try. I don't think there is anyone in Australia running these stocks at the moment so I may as well be the first.

I believe what is being referred to here is the classic fiberglass moulds that can wear out quickly over time. Just as an FYI to the readers, McMillan's tooling uses steel moulds and they have to last a much longer time because of the large investment to have this tooling produced. But after you have a strait, perfect mould of a strait stock design, there is another thousand reasons the stock may come out crooked or with imperfections. Some human related, some materials related, some environmental and process related.
