Is this 700 Bolt Wear Normal?

I think the grinding was done after it left the factory, otherwise the "blueing" would still be on it.
No, I believe the bolt housings are blued before the bolt components are fitted, ie. firing pin assembly, extractor and ejector. No firm knowlege that it is, just how I think the process progresses.

Thomas

Action screws will only hit the outside dia of the lug which by the only picture of the side of a lug you can see it hasnt hit
What could of made the the gouge in the bottom lug in the last two photos? You clearly see the lug has a big gouge to me the metal is pulled foward on the lug . Larry

The machining burr left at the end of the guide rail notch that eww1350 pointed out also reflects the shoddy work done at the factory which gives more credit to the possibility that the extractor rivet grinding was in fact done at the factory.

Early 90's 700 SA Bolt -
Well machined guide rail notch. Also, this bolt has a rivetless extractor and the ejector has been removed.

to the OP. When and where did you buy this rifle? Remington has not used the riveted extractor in quite a few years.

I bought it a little less than a year ago at Cabela's in CO. It was brand new in the box. It's the 'Remington 700 Long Range' model. I'm going to give Remington a call this AM to talk over my issues, although I don't have high hopes...

Well, just got off the phone with Remington. Looks like you guys were right about the sloppy grind job. I was told that was "normal" on this model. And all extractors are riveted on the Long Range model. I guess you get what you pay for.

Now, is it worth getting a new/custom bolt? Besides the hack grind job is there anything hindering accuracy?

That's sad.
