Well here it goes in round numbers plus or minus, the 85gr @4100 they and 80gr are @4200, 75gr @4300 and 70gr blitz kings are good for 4400 Fps I kid you not, I just got it so I haven't max them out. These are my 257 Weatherby loads that I just copied. the groupings were less than a half inch, even though my scope was to far forward and could not get comfortable.

Here are a few rounds of my 6mm Mach IV from left to right.

58gr Vmax, 75 Sierra HP, 87gr Vmax, 95gr Nosler, and 105 Vmax.

The nickle cases are 7 RemMag and the brass ones are 264 WinMag, they were all formed with 243Wssm dies.
The neck and shoulders came out sweet.

The reason your 87g vmax load is seated as deeper than the rest?
All those loads have to be impressive on game Id think.

The reason the 87gr Vmax's is set deeper that they others is, that it is a hot load I mean "nuclear" hot so what I did was set it another 50 thou deeper in the case, and that relieves a lot of pressure. I never pull ammo apart or touch the lands not even close the closest I get to the lands is 50 thou.

I think that you are screwing up with this approach, but the proof is in the groups!!!
 
When you are dealing with these types of wildcats, and especially High volumes of powder and pressures on the ragged edge. You have to stay away from the lands, that 58gr Vmax has 80gr of powder behind it. Do you really think it would make a difference accuracy wise if I was closer to the lands. I have never found any increase in accuracy, what I have found is a huge pressure spike and having to reduce the loads drastically. This is not a 6BR or a 6.5 Creedmoore
with 30 or 40gr of powder, were talking twice that 80gr of powder in a 6mm hole which defies all laws of physics. if you want the speed you need to let the pressure bleed.

Dean, I think that there is more than one way to skin a cat! The big cases I shoot are the 7 STW with 120's, 257 Weatherby Both with Zero freebore. Bug holes are found within 21-30 shots with 120g in the 7mm and 100g in the 257 with the bullets touching the lands. IMR 7828 and R#22 in the 7 STW and R#22 in the 257 Weatherby was used. 7828 and H1000 was not worth a darn in the 257 Weatherby.

We have had 5 of the 7 STW's and more of the 257 Weatherby's, all were loaded the same with the load development being done with the bullets touching the lands. The reamers were cut with .0005+ over bullet dia and 1 1/2* throat angle.

Only experimenting will tell you what will get you bugholes.

That is a very interesting approach, I guess it really does come down to personal experience and trial and error.
For me touching the lands has always had ill effects, so I stay away from them. Just like I stay away from electric fences
when relieving myself.LOL And it is not like there is boat loads of info out there, even with the web you are pretty much on your own. A good example is those 58gr Vmax's went from Very Hard Bolt Lift, to just a little sticky just with that 50 thou recess. You know this is the first time I have had a conversation about this type of loading and shooting, without the usual "Why" or what a waste of components or your barrel must be toast after X amount of rounds, it is very refreshing.

Dean, I really like your post, and your creative way of solving problems. I love wild cats and experimenting as do you!

I work up loads with the bullets touching the lands. If I were to work up loads with bullets off the lands, then move into the lands, I would experience the same thing you found, pressures would go up.

If a guy is going to work with a case with the bullet touching the lands, he needs to start off there to begin with. If I had developed the loads with a .060 jump, then moved into the lands, I would expect hard bolt lift, case head scuffing, etc. I can only give you a "gut feeling" about a positive that may be going on with the bullet touching the lands and certain bullet shapes will demand a jump, sometimes quite a jump. Others could easily disprove my "gut" feeling and that would be no big deal as we are hopefully all learning as we go. I have been a predator hunter all my adult life, and I know that with your rounds, there would be no Coyote nippers and spinners!!! Heee Heee!!! Also, I can see chucks taking off like bottle rockets shot with your round! Very humane kills!!!

I am the first to admit that I don't do a full load development with a barrel. As soon as I find something close or acceptable to my standards I'm good and stick with it.

I have a 6mm Dasher reamer with zero freebore. Should push the 55 grain Nosler over 4100 fps. Adding a bore rider throat to one to try and get over 4200fps.
