22x47 lapua with Amax

Is anyone shooting a 75 a-Max in a 22x47 Lapua? If you are what velocity are you getting and what is your barrel length?
Thanks

I shoot a 22x47 and have used the 75 gr. a-max but did not chronograph it, but I did chronograph the 80 gr. a-max at 3174 fps in a 8" twist 26" barrel using h4831 powder and I probably could go with more powder. Some are using reloader 17 and getting more velocity but I haven't tried it. I like the 80 gr. a-max better and have shot one deer (one shot kill) and numerous groundhogs four of the groundhogs were between 505 and 510 yards. I use the 22x47 for any groundhogs beyond 250 yards and the 80 gr. is impressive the groundhogs don't move they just lay there and wave there tail.

I shot the 22x47 for a while last season. 75s @ 35xx were normal with IMR4451 and 450 primers. I zapped a few over 800yds with the beast.

This one was 541yds I believe. Still a lot of pop at that distance.

I have a Savage PTA in 22X47L with a 26" 8 twist Krieger barrel. Found an accuracy node at about 3300 fps with the 75 AMax and RL17 and never bothered to test a heavier charge. Went up to 3400 fps with N160 and got good accuracy, but not quite as fine as with RL17. Vic

I've almost got all the components for a 22x47 build. I plan to shoot Berger 80.5 grain fullbore bullets and H4350. With H4350 being hard to get right now, Would IMR 4451 be a viable option?
Is there enough case capacity to go to a slower powder like H4831SC or IMR 4955?

You'll find 4451 to be bulky. I used it in the 22x47 and wasn't impressed. I also used H4831 with great success.

Howdy !

My wildcat .22-35 Remington is very close in case capacity to a notional .22-47L.

The accuracy load and field load I used on " soybeanus digestus " was:
40.5gr AA3100 and FED LR Match under 75"A"-MAx for 3,420 fps; from a 28" K & P 1-8
5-groove.
This was not the fastest load possible, but... proved to be the most accurate; along w/ usefull vel.
Primer switch to FED LR Magnum Match boosted vel to 3,500fps; w/ slight opening of the group.

AA3100 out-shot H4831, VV560; and RL-19 in my gun... my loads. I prefer high load density when
I can get it, and as a result used a powder w/ slower burn rate than H4351.

I DO think IMR's new 4955 powder might be an interesting choice, for a barrel of 28" + length.
