Anyone running a 22X47

Looking for some input on the 22X47. Im ordering a 22 cal barrel and up in the air if i want to do a 22br, 22-250AI, or a 22X47. Any info would be much appreciated.

Thank you

Ryan

The 22 BR will do anything the 22/250 will do with less powder and usually more accuracy.
Same with the 22/47 Lapua...
I have all 3 of them and when it's time to poke a hole in something, I grab one of the 22 BR's.
If they are close I use the 40 grain Ballistic tips, in a 16 twist, and if they are out a ways I use the 8 twist and the 75 grain Amax....

I have a 22x47 Lapua and it is a good caliber I shoot the 80 gr A-max 8 twist barrel velocity is 3174 fps. Have shot three groundhogs between 503 and 510 yards and one deer at 110 yards. But dies are expensive and you may have a waiting period plus forming cases and fireforming the brass. If I had to do it all over again I would just get a .220 swift built.

The 22BR with the 75 Amax is the exact setup i was leaning towards. Did you do your own work?

I have a .22x47L that I coyote hunt with. I do my own barrel/action truing work and built the rifle specifically to work from 0 to 500 yards. I had a .22 BR and was never able to get it to feed reliably (100% of the time with any speed of bolt manipulation) out of a Remington box magazine. The .300 additional case length allows the 47 Lapua case to feed flawlessly. The .22x47L is essentially a .300 long .22 BR. Dies don't have to be expensive. Harrells have a 47L bushing die in several different sizes that they will custom fit to your fired brass for $75.

Yes, I do my own work, and you'll be loving that setup. I use H4350 with mine, and Wolf mag primers...

Go to the home page of this forum. Scroll down the left column till you see "22/250". There is a discussion of the relative merits of the 22X47L vs the 22/250AI. etc. at the end of the 22/250 article. Good shooting! Vic
