Case Lube

Any opinions on the best case lube for full length sizing ?

I am currently using Lyman Kwik Case Lube but have had several close calls with cases getting nearly jammed in the die. I then spray a bit more and get a dimple on the shoulder - a sign of excessive lube. My cases are put in a plastic food container and sprayed, rolled around a bit then left for 1-2 minutes.

Until a few weeks ago, I was using Hornady One Shot lube but ran out and it wasn't in supply when I needed to buy a replacement so bought the Lyman.

My dies are very clean, no issues with them, as are the cases before they're resized.

What do you think ? Go back to the Hornady One Shot spray lube or is there something better out there ?

Thanks
Martin

Martin,
Yes and,....yes, what I mean is yes I believe there is a better lube, Imperial sizing wax is the best imho, but I also have used the Hornaday one shot for years with good success until I was turned onto the Imperial wax. If you want to try the best buy a can of Imperial if you don't want to experiment buy the one shot, you already know it works ;)

I use RCBS Case Lube-2 with a pad and have Never had a stuck case. I also use carbide neck sizing bushings in a Full Length sizing die and therefore never have to worry about lubing necks. Only having to roll the body of the case onto the pad, makes for light work.

Imperial Resizing Wax works best for me. Though there are several available, I believe you have to fidn what works best for you.

+2 on imperial but if you are sizing alot quickly, get a spray bottle and mix lanolin/rubbing alcohol 50-50, shake it well. a couple of sprays into a plastic coffee can with brass and shake like a martini. nd you are off to the races. i get my lanolin at a hippy tree hugger store that sells organic foods. for about $3 and rubbing alcohol for $1 left over spray bottle for butter worked out well too. over time the alcohol and lanolin will seperate just reshake and go. during the winter take it inside and warm it up if your man cave is outside. never used one shot spray. the lanolin/alcohol is very close to dillon case lube ;)
good luck to you hope it helps,
cheers,
doc

I disagree with the hornaday one stick theme, I have used hornaday one shot for years and only stuck one case when I first started and didn't follow the directions, I think any of the lubes will work for you if used correctly, I am into wildcat loads and feel the Imperial does the best job for me.

On a side note for the one shot users I found I had the best results when I grab the case from the block and roll it in my fingers just like you would with Imperial and it evens it out and you can tell if it has enough or not enough at that time.

I've used most of these but now I just use a can of minks oil. Not for the girls that don't want her fingers dirty. I use it for full lenth and also when I neck size. It doesn't take much and you can feel it thru you're fingers if you have too much or too little. Last along time too.

Been using One Shot for many years for full sizing 223, 243, 22 250 and 308 cases. Never had one stuck yet but attention to detail in needed.

I think the same of the product is misleading, you need more than "one shot". I spray the inside of the die first, let stand for a couple of minutes. Cases are held in a Sinclair lube rack and I spray one side, turn the rack 180 degrees, and spray again from the other side, this ensures full coverage. Let stand for a couple of minutes then size.

I like One Shot since it removes easily, is easy to apply but you must make sure that you obtain full coverage.

Good responses here to my post, thanks all.
Will go back to the Hornady One Shot when I can get supply, I have never had a dimple in the case shoulder using this spray. With the Lyman, my brass "squeaks" entering in the die, a sure sign of it sticking as it goes through the sizing process - when I use more spray I get a dimple on the shoulder.
Will give Imperial was a trial, I have only used it for lubing the expandiron on my K&M neck turner.
Thanks

I use Ballistol for sizing lube. Works great!

I accidentally bought a can of the liquid (meant to order the spray can), and simply use the ballistol liquid on my RCBS lube pad... it works very well! much thinner than the RCBS lube, so it's not such a PITA to work with.

Wipes right out of the dies, and will not gum up. You can leave the stuff in the die to act as a rust preventative when you're done sizing too!

+1 on the Hornady One-Shot. Have been using it for a decade with only one stuck case, and that was operator error. I use the Sinclair poly 50-round loading blocks, spray from two opposite corners at about 45 degrees above. Works like a charm. Then I take all of the sized rounds and put them in a bath towel to rub off any remnant lube.

In a pinch, I've used Pam cooking spray, which actually works reasonably well. Not a fan of RCBS - too sticky.

When used properly, their small tin of Imperial Sizing Die Wax will last your lifetime.
A little goes a looong way.

The original RCBS case lube is (was?) as lanolin product, and getting it completely off of cases was, for me, a bit of a pain. for that reason I have not used it for years. RCBS Case Lube II is easily removed with a wet cloth. I apply it with my fingers. If I was doing high volume loading, I would make some case racks that were suitable for pump spray application. I would probably drill a plank for multiple dowels, staggered and spaced so that I could spray each case from both sides. With their reputation for quality, and knowledge of all things progressive, I would probably start with this.

Has any one tried using teflon in a spray can? I currently use Imperial sizing wax its good, never a stuck case but its slow.
