300RUM loads

Anyone have any good loads for this caliber??
I have tried some bergers but once I get past 100 yards they open way up and my gun is a sendero and its very difficult to find the lands.
Any info would be great.

My Sendero loved 190 Sierras and Retumbo. The load's up to the gun.

I set the 1K stock class group record with mine.

My best load for that same set up is 200 gr. Noz. accu-bond, w/86.0 gr. of Retumbo, w/ Fed. 215M pr.s, col of 3.670. This is not near a max. load, but it's very accurate and deadly.

Retumbo is THE powder for 300 RUM, I am running 96.0 with 190's and 93.5 with 208 A-Max's. This load is safe in my rifle, work up and be safe. I also recently experimented with Vihtavouri N570 and it works very well also. Thats the only 2 powders I will continue to work with. I want to stretch out to 600 yards this spring with these 2 loads and see which one is better.

Another vote for Retumbo. I used it with both the 200 gr Sierra Game King and the 200 gr Nosler Accubond. Very good results.

Check Hodgdon's web site for min and max loads - it's pretty amazing what the .300 RUM can do with heavy bullets and a slow burning powder.

Retumbo with a 180 Nosler BT out to 1000 yards. This hammers in my 700 BDL 26 inch. I shoot mine on the hot side just below max out of the manual.

Hello i'm new here to this great forum! I have a recipe for the 300 Ultra I'm from Pa and have used mine out to 450 yds on whitetails and Mack Truck fits the bill. I'm shooting Nosler 180 Partitions, 89 gr IMR 7828 Fed 215 prim. Running these out of a 700 Laminated/Stainless. During development these bullets set way out to find the lands, and shot great 1/4 and better. Then when I tried to drop them in the floor plate they were way long, like 1/4 to 5/16 in. So reset die and pushed them back till they would feed properly, and I couldn't tell my targets apart from original load development to my finished seating depth was found.

I make a CIP approved load for my customers with 88grain Norma MRP and my lead free AERO 180grain bullet.
Thats a very accurate high power load that normaly has 1/2 MOA to 1 MOA accuracy - depends on rifle and shooter.

I have a 300RUM that i had built for hunting that i have just been experiencing with different loads on paper. remington 700 action that has been trued with 30" Lilja barrel 1:12 twist. For hunting i always liked more velocity with a ballistic tip cause they definitely do damage on an animal. But recently on paper i built a load with 168 Berger VLD, 88.5 gr of RL-22 fed 215 primer. 300yd group (which i wouldnt so much say group cause it was 3 shots) but was 0.516" @ 3450fps

Yesterday a customer get his new custom rifle. It`s a customized Rem700 with orig. Rem barrel + muzzle break.
On customers wish I shortened the barrel to 600mm (incl muzzle break).
Today I get the replay: no muzzle fire with Norma MRP and 1/2 MOA groups. The info how much velocity gets lost I get within the next 2 weeks because his chrony don`t work.

I like the 300 RUM very much because it`s a modern and very accurate 300 Supermagnum caliber. And perhaps it`s possible to use this great cartridge in a little bit shorter barrels too !!!

Info 21.03.2011: the customer has measured the speed before: 980 m/s. And the speed after shortening the barrel (600mm incl break): 980 m/s. Measured with a Mehl BMC 20 - a very accurate chrony.
So it`s possible to make shorter 300 RUM`s ;D

I am running 208 A-Max and 210 Bergers in my 10 twist Brux barrel, and there are no issues. My friends .300 RUM 10 twist Lilja barrel stabilizes 240 MK's, I didn't think it would but his rifle loves them. (30 inch barrel).

I have the O-L-D "Golden Eagle" (read that Sako Action) magnum length action, Pac-Nor 1-10 / 26" barrel with a "modified" Richards Micro-fit stock. I think that Retumbo is THEE powder (although I have never tried RL-33) for the .300R.U.M using 180-200 gr bullets. My fav load is 96.0grs of Retumbo with 200gr Accubond bullets. They exit the muzzle at an astounding 3200 F.P.S. with excellent accuracy! I don't shoot it anymore but it is one of the most gorgeous rifles you will lay your eyes on!

Plain Jain Remington SF Sendero bought 18 years ago, 93 gr. of H100 Fed 215M primers, and Berger 190 gr. VLD's, will not shoot like one of my custom rifles but plenty good for hunting, will stay under 3'' at 400 yards.

28" trueflite 1-10 barrel on a trued sendero, shooting 230gr berger otm projectiles, with 87gr of adi 2225 which i believe is just retumbo. they pop out at 2960fps
