Scope recommend for 50 yd benchrest

Buy the best scope you can afford. Most people here like the weaver 36. If it works use it. But its a good buy scope for newbys. A weaver is a starter scope. Do what you want.

I have 5- T36 Weavers (FCH and Dot) 40X Leupold FCH, 45X Leupolds w/ Dot and a Sightron 45 w/ small dot. All mounted to .22 RF
The Weavers vary in quality, 2 of them are the older models, both FCH and they seem to hold and track better than the newer ones. The 40X Leupold, I have no complaints at all. The 45X's are okay, the dot is too big to judge the hold offs at times. The Sightron 45X I bought earlier this summer, the 1/10 dot and the 1/10 clicks are great. At 50 yards, a click = 1/2 bullet hole. If you plan to spend a 1000 on a scope, I think the Sightron would be the ticket. If your looking for a multi task type scope, I would get a Bushnell 4500 Elite 8-32. Has to be the clearest, brightest scope I ever looked through for under 2000.00 They are no longer in production, but a nice pre owned one is usually 3-400.00

I am in the process of testing the 45x45 Sightron. I have had it on my 600 yard rifle, but recently put it on my CZ 453 .22LR. It may well be the optimum 50 yard scope. It focuses parallax down to 10 yards and has 1/10th MOA dot and 1/10th MOA adjustments. It holds point of aim and has superb ED glass from Japan. It has a street price under $1000 (I have seen prices as low as $750).
yes, we have a forum member that has a great price on them..

James,
Looking forward to your thoughts on the scope.
One of the guys was shooting one @ the last IBS 100/200 match this past weekend @ Camillus and said he really liked it.
Tim, check the Daily Bulletin about a week ago (September 21st). My article is in it. Good shooting

If you are going to hunt with this scope, as well as shoot benchrest, then you need a variable, as hunting with a 24x or 36x or higher scope will frustrate you to no end. You could try a Weaver V-24. 6x to 24x. It is marginal for benchrest at 50 yards, but that range or 6-24x is about the only thing that will do both.

Dedicated rimfire 50 yd benchrest scope.

What are y'all running ?

If you want a decent scope for under $300 look at the Mueller 40x glass is as good if not better than the Sightron S-II 36X or the Weaver T36 I used one for 100yds. matches. only sold it as I went to a 50x
