If I were to do something stupid....I mean fun...and stupid

We will be looking forward to seeing you! You will be welcomed! AND you will have a GREAT time shooting with some of the nicest people who are also some of the best competitors around anywhere!

The stars aligned and we made it down without any problems, Quick report as we are still on the road.

As promised, we were welcomed warmly at 630 am and the match was wonderful. A lot of high quality shooters. Thought I heard 40 total. Match temps a balmy 55 at start and mid 70s most of the day with cloudy skis and a switchy 6o'clock breeze. Heavenly to the two Northerners. A well run affair with a lot of comraderie, can highly recommend. Great experience and we well worth the 47 hr/2800 mile ride. Will add some pictures once I get to my computer in a few hours.

Left Burger Barn yesterday after a great lunch (thanks Ben and Tom) at 4 pm and hit Tulsa at 2am this morning. After a few hours rest. Back at it.

Drew and Gerald (I believe that was Drew's friend's name) were excellent people and VERY excellent shots! Drew was using what appeared to be a Gary Elisio chasis, shooting a .223 in F-T/R. Gerald was shooting (I believe) a .284 Shehane in F-Open. Drew WON in F-T/R and tied the winner of F-Open, Doug McIntosh. VERY EXCELLENT shooting indeed! Drew, Gerald, Tom and myself had a bet. Top two scores, would have lunch bought by the 2 "lesser fortunate" shooters! LOL! Well Drew won, Gerald came in 2nd BUT beat both myself and Tom, so they "ate our lunch" LITERALLY! Hehehehe! Great fun, with excellent shots, who more than anything else, are excellent people! It was mine and "our" (as in Bayou Rifles) great pleasure to have such gentlemen grace our terra firma! I hope they make a return trip>>I need to have my lunch bought next time!! LOL!!!

Thanks, Ben. A terrific experience by all measures.

Garald was shooting a 6BRX and Doug and I actually didn't tie ;)

It's a deal. I look forward to the next time to potentially buy your lunch!

Congrats Drew! Glad you guys had a fun and safe trip. I've shot matches at Bayou club several times now and it's always a good time with those guys.

Way to go Guys... U had some Nordakota Magic going for ya there
And ya met some fantastic folks... Invite em up for the Frosty Barrel & Chili Feed....

Pretty sure Garald and Doug tied with 596 in Fopen with Doug outxing Garald 31 to 26 and I had a 597.

Well EXCELLENT!!! You R-E-A-L-L-Y did a phenomenal job with your rifle! Excellent job!

Got home about an hour ago.

Thanks, Ben. Shooting well was just the icing on the cake for the "stupid" (but fun) chance to do something outrageous (in ND on Friday and Monday, but Texas on Sat and Sun) and connect with a great group of people. I just knew by reputation that Bayou was going to live up to its growing reputation as a hub of outstanding shooters.

Getting lucky and shooting a personal best, as well as my very first 200 will make Bayou an even more special place for me.

Thanks again for the warm welcome and being the Bayou Welcome Wagon.

Thanks Jade. Was hoping I might have seen you there, but look forward to being on the line together sometime soon.

It is some fantastic shooting when a 223 outshoots the entire Open field! Congratulations again Drew, it was great to have the opportunity to shoot with you, glad to hear you and Garald made the trip back without issues.

Thanks Fredrik. It was fun to meet you and also get to watch you shoot. I honestly think your 2nd match 199 was the best shooting of the day on our target. I think you got the short-end-of-the stick conditions wise. Drew

Want to give a shout out to Joe R. and Denys B. for coordinating the match and calling the line. Can't have my fun without those selfless enough to put in the hard work to make a match happen. Garald doesn't have a computer, so I would like to mention that he just raved about the paid puller he hired. She did an outstanding job on Target 16! The other hired pullers that I saw were also excellent. Even served as cat-herders keeping the rest of us in line. A big THANK YOU! Drew

That Paid Puller is a Distinguished shooter. Finished two years ago while still in High School. Now college takes up her time so we don't see her very often on the range.

I was under the impression that his puller was a practicing Chiropractor rather than a college student, but perhaps I misunderstood him.
