I avoid all prepared food during flu season!
i havent been to a restaurant in a few weeks and i used to hit one everyday so that is a big change for me. they say on tv there is no proof the virus is transferred through food and if you just wipe the containers off you should be allright. Not sure i buy that so i dont think ill be back to any restaurant till the scare is over. i know going to the grocery store could get me the virus, i guess i just think the risk is less than hitting the fast food.Do you guys still stop at the fast food places drive thru ? Are you concerned someone working there could be infected and infect the food you ordered ?
thats gutsy- there is alot of staying away from home in my job. i decided to wait awile before i go back to workI'm staying in a hotel during the week workin' out of town. Stopped at a waffle house in southern MS for some dinner. There were three employees, all scrubbing the place down. Cleanest waffle house I have ever been in. I was the only patron.
Glad you are ok. Take care. Is there a chance of reinfection, or weren`t you told? Just curious, you don`t need to answer. JeffWasn't worried last flu season and I'm not worried this time around. Just went to Carl's (Hardees for you sinners) and got their cheese wheel burger. It's a decent burger, the cheese wheel works without being too much. I'm young enough (almost 50) to not worry about getting a cold but if I were the age of half the guys on here I'd avoid restaurants like the (pardon the pun) plague as a matter of self preservation except for top shelf outfits like In-n-Out and Chik-Fil-A where they practice better selection and management of workers.
Mid-brow and multi-nationals joints like Wendy's/Jack/McD's/BurgerKing/Carl's I'd think about my future a bit but that could easily be the food quality as much as the infectious disease transmission capability that'd be worrying me.
Mud-cricket attractants like White Castle/Skyline/Krystal/Bojangles is where you go to get a disease in the first place so one shouldn't be surprised if you get one from them, heck, that's half the fun seeing what new intestine liquifying bug you'll get at these bottom barrel joints.
I already had covid-19, a month ago. It's a nasty cold that comes with a bad cough and a rough fever. The 102 fever and feeling like hell lasts for 3-5 days. The cough lasts 2 weeks. The come-on is powerful, 6 hours from feeling fine to can't drive and shivering under 2 electric blankets. Nothing to eat or drink for 3 days and then things started to perk up. Everyone in my office came down with it on the same day. We all showed up to work feeling fine and we all had to go home by lunch. We're pretty sure we got it from a catered company lunch 1-2 weeks prior. Everyone's better now.
It's a virus so once you have this specific flavor, you're immune or at least resistant to this specific flavor as far as conventional wisdom goes. Nobody can tell really though how much immunity or resistance is gained. Nature is a pain that way. Coronavirus is actually a really well known and described class of pathogen, that's actually what caused the panic in a way. People who know what they're looking at were really scared initially because this was a new flavor and other flavors that were both new at one time were MERS and SARS v1. Both of those had really high (like 20-30% or more) mortality rates. Nobody was sure how this one would play out in the early days. Would it be 35% fatal or .1%? Coronavirus' are very often able to be really deadly because they attack the lungs in humans. There's only so much damage lungs will take and it's really hard to not die if your lungs don't work. Ventilators require semi-functioning lungs.Glad you are ok. Take care. Is there a chance of reinfection, or weren`t you told? Just curious, you don`t need to answer. Jeff
same here, only mine gets cheese and her name isn't 'diddle'. but boy, she goes wild for the chicken nuggets even more....My dog, Diddle, gets a dry Value meal burger occasionally from Burger King.
Thank you for a very detailed answer. I really appreciate your time and effort. I really believe time and research will put an end to this day/nightmare.And a little prayer along the way. Stay well and thanks again. JeffIt's a virus so once you have this specific flavor, you're immune or at least resistant to this specific flavor as far as conventional wisdom goes. Once you have it and you make it through then you're going to have some immunity to that one flavor and possibly more resistant to other flavors (which are undefined at this time). How long the immunity lasts, what mutations in the virus might weaken that effect and other questions simply are not answerable yet. Those are based on observed data not predictions and it's simply not been long enough to have that kind of hindsight.
It's been a month and none of us from my office have had any further issues. Those of us that got any treatment were treated for "the flu" initially because covid-19 wasn't even thought to be here at the time and was barely in the news at all. It was here and was already rampant in the SF Bay area. Hospitals were crammed with people by the time I got it. I live in Kommiefornia and work in high tech in silicon valley and we're all always being exposed to the freshest flavors of hell from China and India so we tend to adopt new illnesses early. If you want to know how it'll all turn out, look at California. We're fine. The people are mostly retarded but we're all still just fine.
