Zermatt RimX barrel info

lilja 17 1/4 long sporter contour stainless barrel . 1/2 28 threaded
never been shot.. a friend has this and he is wondering what its worth..... 22lr

I had a friend look at the pics who's really knowledgeable about RimX actions and he has no clue. He said "I've never seen anything like that barrel but honestly it looks like a homemade barrel nut and the dimples to put some kind of wrench on to tighten the nut down"

Maybe a homemade nutted prefit that can be adjusted for perfect headspace depending on rim thickness of the ammo.

Actually, I don’t have a clue.

I'll admit I don't know what it is, other than likely a 22 cal barrel which takes in a lot of territory from air rifle to 22-250. Product sometimes goes out the factory door in either the scrap bin or in a lunch bucket. This appears too thin walled to be even a 22 rimfire barrel.

Ask Lilja what it is. Are there more markings on it than are shown?
Otherwise avoid it.

I quoted this member twice. To the OP, are you sure it's a Lilja, and if so, why are you sure? You have not produced any evidence it is a Lilja. Barrel markings, receipt from Lilja? Why so sure what it is? If for sure you know it's a Lilja, do what my first quote from dutch14 mentioned......contact Lilja.

Second quote from dutch14 is totally off base. I have my 1948 S&W K22 on my table as I type this and the barrel contour at the muzzle is almost exactly the same as the muzzle of the barrel in question pictured here. Plenty of wall thickness for a .22 rimfire.

Unless the OP can find out anything definitive about the barrel, which he has NOT posted anything definitive, all the speculation here from other members is rather a moot point.

Another 'forum' example of no creditable information, but a lot of opinions about something without that information being posted. o_O

it came with a 4000 dollar rimx 22 lr rifle . .. seller said its a lilja

Without having it in hand, I’ll take a guess based on what I see. They took a barrel that had a breech end that wasn’t large enough to be able to direct thread into the action. There are plenty of small diameter blanks for 22s out there. A bushing/thread adapter was made to thread into the RimX and the barrel threads into that. Could very well work just fine.

I’ll go further in assuming, and say those holes are for using a spammer wrench to take the barrel on and off
