Zermatt Origin action

I am contemplating doing a rifle build in 22 ARC. I have looked at the Zermatt Origin action and I really like it. My question is, if I call to order this action, will they prep the action for the 22 ARC or will I need a gunsmith after I receive the action? Forgive my ignorance, as I have never built a rifle from the ground up and I am new to the actions and pre-fit barrels as individual purchases.

Just order it (the action and shouldered prefit barrel) from James at Northland Shooters. They do good work for a fair price.

Per the questions, the vendor won't (normally) do any 'prep'. When ordering the action, you will need to choose size/model of action and size of bolt head. You may or may not need a smith, depending on your 'mechanical aptitude'.

You will need (for 22 ARC) :

-action w/ARC bolt head
-recoil lug (may come w/the action)
-prefit barrel w/barrel nut or shouldered prefit barrel
-barrel nut wrench (if you use a nut)
-trigger
-go & no-go gauges (maybe optional if you use a shouldered barrel, but highly recommended)
-other stuff....

If by 'prep' you mean actually assembling the parts so that you can just drop it into a stock, I'd say no. I have not heard of a vendor (Urbanrifleman or Northland, for example) that puts all the pieces together for you, so if you can't do it, you would need to find someone that can.

You might post some more specific questions for more help.

ETA: I do see that Patriot Valley Arms does barrelled actions, so at least one vendor assembles them somewhat.

Buy the tools and screw it on. Takes a few minutes. You can do it .
