Zermatt Arms Origin experiences?

I have one with a 6br barrel on it. The mechanical ejector works great on the short 6br case. I'd buy another. My barrel is a Criterion with a nut on it. I also have a ARC Nucleus that I like a little better because of a few thought out features that Ted designed nicely. Both have Trigger Tech triggers on them and they are as good or better than I need.

I have an Origin in 6CM. It seems to bind a little bit if bolt isn't pushed straight forward when feeding. Camming down on the bolt when closing is a little harder than other custom actions. I have a Surgeon, Defiance Deviant and a Borden Alpine to compare it to. Among all of those, it's a good action but doesn't rank up there with the others.

I have ran an origin for 40 rounds, and own a tl3. While very smooth actions the fact that they bind worse then any other custom actions I’ve handled or own which is like 8-10 actions now is a turn off. I want to like it so bad, and love some of the features but I am not 100% satisfied with it and for the money of the tl3 atleast there’s tons of others id buy from here on instead and even for the origin I’d probably buy something else. The tl3 was one of my most wanted actions, and is becoming my least favourite due to the simple fact they bind like nothing I’ve ever seen.

It's the best "budget custom" you can buy. For the price they charge it's a no-brainer. It will also get smoother the more you use it.
I also feel this isn’t the case. The kelbly atlas is incredible. Insanely smooth, super light bolt lift and close and even compared to some much higher priced actions the kelbly is tough to beat!

The Origin is mechanically very similar to the TL3. It should not have anymore binding than the TL3. If it does, I would reach out to Zermatt, they are good folks and stand behind their gear. I also think a broken-in Origin can be smoother than a broken-in TL3. We've been running Bighorns for a long, long time and like them a lot.

The Atlas is very nice and I do like Kelby's. It also is more cash and the bolt-stop is not my favorite. Both actions are outstanding for the money.

No action is perfect, but an Origin with the Hunt's recoil-lug is hard beat for the money in my opinion.

I'd agree with that. Great features and the others mentioned in this thread as comperable are $100-200 more. You can change the bolt face out on the Origin also so makes it versatile where you can have a .223, .308 and short magnum in the same rifle by just changing barrel and boltface. I have a couple TL3s and never had them bind at all. They run really smooth from the beginning. Have run them in matches and never a hiccup. I wouldn't hesitate to get a Origin.

I believe they now come with a double pinned recoil lug which is a nice added feature for the same cost as the original.

It can bind unless you get your bolt stroke right. It doesn’t like the bolt handle being pulled away from the action when it is pulled back. If you train yourself to keep pressure on the bolt handle toward the receiver it will never bind.

Have any of you guys been using these? Thoughts and experiences?
My hunting rig is on an Origin action. I have no complaints and would absolutely do it again. Mine did seem like it could bind when it was brand new, but it didn’t take much cycling before it quit doing it. Mine is now as smooth as any action out there.
