Zeiss Victory RF 10x45 Laser Rangefinder Binoculars

'The Nut Behind The Trigger'
Has anyone been able to look through these new glasses,Zeiss Victory RF 10x45 Laser Rangefinder Binoculars)in an outdoor environment and establish a real opinion of how good or not-so-good they really are? I have seen them listed in several different on-line stores at the $2,999.00 price. My question is: What makes them worth paying 50% extra for these glasses versus the Leica 10x42 Geovid glasses. There are currently auctions on e-Bay for the Leica's that are less than $2K. Would a person be paying the extra THOUSAND dollars for the 'mickey-mouse' ballistic stuff inside that 98% of the buying public can't/won't use anyway. I'm curious.

I realize there are a lot of folks out there with deep pockets when it comes to this sport of shooting, and hunting) that we love so much; but, given the current economy what's up with this pricing? This is the time when my wife would normally chime in and say that I am one of those spending way to much on the shooting/hunting 'thing'.

Curiosity got me again!

BlueEye, I don't know about the Zeiss, but I have a brother who owns a pair of the Leica 10x42 Geovids and why anyone would want anything more is beyond me, they are absolutely great in a prarie dog field. Be sure you check on the warranty if buying off of the E-Bay. Hope this helps, the Leicas any something!!

Thanks Mack. I appreciate the feedback. I know the one guy on e-Bay; have bought several items from him. Good seller.

I used to own a 15x56 pair of GEOVID glasses and had to sell them. I could no longer hold them steady enough to get a distance measurement when in a free-standing position. Another one of the beauties of age; I guess! :)
I just really don't understand the pricing.

Thanks again for your response.
