Zeiss 15x45 Conquest Binoculars, Awesome!!!!

Well, it was time to by a new pair of binoculars, so I went out shopping. I was looking at the Swarovski SLC 10x42 and was ready to spend the money, $1,600.00, on them. However, I was told to look at Zeiss and Leicas too. Well after a bunch of time looking through binoculars, the Zeiss 15x45 Conquests were the binoculars I chose.
They're absolutely awesome. I was so happy that I took the time to look through each of the binoculars and make a decision that way instead of what people suggested. Everyone told me to by the Swarovskis, and I was pretty much sold on them, because I own the Swarovski 8x30 Laser guided range finder and it's awesome.

However, after looking through the Zeiss 15x45 Conquest, I was sold. They are so clear it was impressive. I really lucked out today, I went in to buy a pair of $1600.00 binoculars and came out with a $1100.00 pair of binoculars that have a higher magnification and larger objective, too. I don't think you can go wrong with either one of the binoculars I haven mentioned. However, through my eyes, the Zeiss was by far the clearer of the three.

If you're getting ready to by a pair of binoculars, make sure you look through each one of them before you buy a pair. Every bodies eyes are different, and they my see better through a particular pair of binos. The most expensive aren't necessarily better. Like I said, I was amazed when I looked through each pair of binos. I did notice a difference, and I chose the binos that look clearer through my eyes. Make sure to look through the Zeiss Conquests, they are nice.

Unless you are using a tripod or other mechanical support for a binocular, 15x magnification is too much. Image tremble will be much more problematic when trying to hand hold a binocular of such high magnification. Furthermore, the exit pupil,i.e. the little circle of light transmitted to the ocular lens) will be only 3mm in a 15x45 binocular, which means 15x magnification and a 45mm objective lens. Exit pupil enables you to see the image better or worse in low light. 7mm exit pupil is about as big as a healthy human eye in a young adult can dilate. Smaller than that, and the image is dimmer.

I'd recommend the Zeiss Victory 8x42 as a very strong contender for the the best all-around binocular you could purchase at any cost. For the best value, I'd recommend the Nikon Premier 8x42, which has a street price of about half what the aforementioned Zeiss would sell for. Another worthy alternative, and at $500 a heckuva deal, is the Vortex Viper 8x42.

If you're going to be glassing with the big binos, get a tripod adapter and you'll be WAY more comfortable, and you'll be able to see WAY better, than trying to hold them by hand.

The Nikon's were nice, but they are no way near the quality and clarity of the Zeiss binoculars. Just like I said, everyone, has a different opinion when looking through binoculars and that's why I am glad I looked through each one of them before I made my choice.
