Z-Max .22 cal

Does anybody know if Z-MAX .22 cal projectiles are still in production? I looked at the Hornady site last night and unless I did something wrong I couldn't find them.
I have just acquired 22/250 and thought to try them out, I normally use 55gr Blitzkings and 53gr Berger Varms in my .220 Ackleys and wish to keep what I have in these for exclusive Ackley use.

regards
Mike.

Unless you care about tip color, the Z-MAX and V-MAX are the same thing. The only difference is green vs red tip.

I might have a box of them laying around if you wanted some to try. Let me know. I could ship them out next week. Josh

I found the Z-max's varied in weight much more than the V-max, and did not group as well when compared by identical weight and caliber (223 REM). I have a new box of 500 20 cal, and nearly as much in 50 gr. 223 that I'd part with.

Thanks for the offers Guys but the Customs and Border Protection boys down here will string me up trying to import components , its the UN see that dictate the rules nowadays.
And why would Hornady make the the same bullet and just change the tip colour? Given that the green tips when available down here are so much cheaper than Vmax's.

regards
Mike.

Oops! Now!.....I see that you're in Australia!:( I think the "green tips" were a play on the Zombie Apocalypse. They had a run, then sales dropped off and I think they started dumping them for cheap. I bought a box of 500 just because they were cheap. Maybe I'll save them until they become a collector's dream. Say 50 years?

Yeah, Hornady capitalized on the zombie craze with the "Zmax" (zombie max) bullets and Zombie MAX ammunition. Just a simple color change. Marketing!

A friend and I been shooting the zmax in our Fireballs. Mostly for the cost/bc ratio. We were also pondering if the zmax and vmax were any different, and he sent me a picture he found online showing a 50 vmax and a 50 zmax sectioned in half and the zmax had a noticeably thicker jacket. Maybe just a different lot??? but definitely beefier. The zmax's have shot as well as anything I've tried thru these rifles.

I just bought 2000 from Midway last week. Free shipping above 100$ on order Z-max 14¢ each. The V-max is 18¢ each. -0- difference in accuracy for me only green tips are the difference. Midway gives a nice discount on your birthday!

Hey Mike,
I just joined this Forum!

Cleavers (Brisbane if you're Aussie) has ZMAX projectiles in stock and on sale.
I just bought some 55gn for the .223 as my Howa .308 loves the ZMAX 168gn

Hope that helps,
Cheers,
Mark
