Your thoughts on new Remington 700

I handled an sps yesterday bolt was tight and bolt handle timing was right on. Bolt handle rode the whole extraction ramp all the way open so thats a plus for me. My local gun shop had that sps for 670$ and he had an ADL for 8 somthing i cant remember what the whole price was

I would think some would be sold the day they arrived at the dealers requiring a public announcement . Nothing on their website.

For what it's worth the last Remington I bought a couple weeks ago for a donor action was indeed much better than any other Remington I have messed with in the past. The receiver face was cut smooth and square, the threads were sharp and clean and the bolt timing was just right. Not sure if I just got lucky or if this is what we can expect from here on out.

The local shop has three of them right now. One is a CDL. Bolt timing was perfect, the barrel was floating, the bolt was slick, and the stock was well fit. The other two were ADLs, one youth and one full-size. Both of them seemed to also have good timing and all that, but they did have the rough finish similar to the SPS models with a rough jeweled bolt.

The sps i handled had a pretty pathetic excuse of jeweled bolt also i dont even know why they bothered really but the bolt was had good no slop feel and bolt timing was good

The new owners posted a list of changes that they were going to make on the new 700s. If they did what they said they were going to the new ones will be worth more cause that will be better. Custom better i doubt it but better.

Lots of folks are pulling for Remington, the new Remington, but they have a steep hill to climb imo. They can't live or survive on a name. I've never been a fan of Remington rifles, but I wish them the best of luck in putting Remington back in the rifle production game.
