Before, I would just put powder in to where It might come close to the speed I might want(1" groups were fine), now I try to do a better job of trying to get performance and smaller groups. I have learned a lot here. Thanks

Was looking at the accshooter site about the 22BR which I was shooting. with a 23.5" barrel I wasn't getting much speed compared to the 30" tube on my Savage. Saw the part about AA2520 and since I have a few pounds of the stuff thought I would give it a try. Used 53 vmax and got good groups and 3800fps. Thought why not with heavier bullets, so gave 60vmax, 60nos BT, 60 Sierra TMK and Hornady/Midsouth 62 bthp. Everything but the 60 TMK gave me dime sized groups @3500 fps, but the TMK were stringing vertically. Thought little more powder might work.
Sure enough, a couple tenths powder over the other bullets, the TMK group shrank. The larger group is 1/10th of a grain over the smaller group and I jerked the trigger on the one out of the group. Velocity is right at 3500fps.

Its just a plain Remington barrel I picked up at a gun show and cut back the chamber area so I could chamber to 22BR. Kind of a quick job, didn't hardly polish the chamber, so a bit rough, but I think I will leave it alone.IMG_0009.JPG IMG_0010.JPG

Thanks Again

In the midst of ordering a barrel myself. I got into the 22BR in a round about way. The rifle I have shoots very well but it just doesn’t suit me for a few reasons accurate or not.
If the replacement doesn’t shoot as well as my other one I will be ticked to say the least.
