Your first experience watching a really talented shooter.

I have always had a certain respect for the guys like our military snipers that dont rely on fancy rests to shoot amazing shots. Well a couple weeks ago at a local range I was shooting 300 yards prone off a bipod with a freshly rebarreled savage 6mmbr. there was a gentleman shooting prone with a sling and sitting. I knew as soon as i saw him and his rifle he knew what he was doing. His gun. eliseos r5 6mmbr. there i lay with my 6mmbr using high magnification nightforce optics and hes printing similar groups with just a sling prone and sitting quick fire with open sites. Turns out the next time i go on competition machine inc. There he is. Pictured real big on eliseos site.. its hugo adelson. It was refreshing to see someone with pure talent shoot and He was a super cool guy. So this is the reason for the post. Tell us the first time you watched someone and thought wow. Now Thats a real shooter.

Many (like fifty) years ago, when I was shooting PPC team competition, one of the teams we faced represented the US Border Patrol. Every one of their team members was amazing, but one of them (I believe his name was "Perez") could put a .38 cal round through a soda straw at 50 yards. Well, maybe that's a stretch. But he always shot "possibles" (these were B-21XR targets http://www.pistoleer.com/targets/silhouette/) and he'd often put every shot inside that little 5X ring as he moved through the various positions. That's a 50X 250 aggregate target. It doesn't get any better than that in PPC.

I live in Houston, Texas. I shoot at Bayou Rifles where we shoot 300, 600 and 1000 yards. Two (2) years ago I decided to go with a friend of mine and watch all the shooting to see if that's what I wanted to do and if I did, to try my hand at it. After watching 2/ 1000 yard matches, I decided to give it a try. The next 1000 yard match, I was on a target with Erik Cortina. I was on the 3rd relay and had to pull first. He was shooting, however, I can't remember what his score was, I just remember A LOT of 10's and X's. I thought to myself "Man this guy can shoot!" ... As the match(s) progressed, I saw him shoot and he was an impressive shot. The next match we had was at 600 yards. I was once again in relay three (3) and a shooter, who I never heard of, never seen, was "up to bat" so to speak. I pulled 17 "X"s" for him but he dropped 1 point and shot a 199 / 17-X score! I found out later that had he not missed, and shot the one 9, he would have had a "club record">>His name: Mark Walker... Now this man knows how to shoot! All of the guys at Bayou Rifle are excellent people. They are always helpful and NEVER "look down" on shooters, like myself, who are not the best shooters around. These two guys really made a very positive impression on me and if I could ever emulate their shooting, I would be one very pleased individual. They are not only excellent shots, they are great people! My hat is off to them and to the other shooters at Bayou Rifles!..

Many years ago, I was in the pits on a local range pulling a target for a buddy. Next to me was a boy pulling a target for shooter unknown to me. The shooters were on the 200yd line.
The unknown shooter was shooting 'x' s and '10's, shot after shot. I was thinking he was shooting prone but when there was a pit change, I saw that he was shooting offhand and it was Lons Wigger practicing for the Camp Perry Nationals!

Here we go,another many years ago,I was Incredibly lucky.I was a shooter on our company's team. The C.O. sent a group of us to a seminar at LeJuene where a top shooter was going to show us some of the basics. Carlos became a god to me that day. I did not get to see him again until his funeral 30-35 years later. No one can match his accomplishments.
