That's interesting as a lot of the target shooters seem to swear by Bergers and won't touch Hornady. In my experience, so far, calling the wind right made a lot more difference than which bullet I was using. After the first Berger drought over here many years ago I switched over from 105gr HVLDs to 108gr Hornadys for belly benchrest, steel and hunting and I haven't seen a need to change back. I can't shoot the difference between a 108gr ELD and a 105gr VLD on a Fclass target or steel plate at least not in the lot # that im still shooting.
87gr Vmax are incredibly impressive on prairie dogs, ground hogs and even coyotes in my .243 as I'll use my prone rifle with 32" barrel. Similar to hitting something with a High Capacity shell out of an Iowa Class BB.87gr. Hornady v-max for mid range prairie dogs (600 yards and under)
105 gr Hornady v-max for long range (1000 yds)

I use a 103g hand-pulled bullet in my Dasher made here in Pa. One thing I like ( and it probably means nothing ) is getting them from the man's hand that made them directly into mine, avoiding the trip through the mail being thrown around by an untold number of " Dock Apes " before arriving here.....I Know.....Major Exaggeration......But you get my point. Shop local to you if you can, if the quality is there.....I have been considering custom bullets as Bergers are pretty much an extinct species over here. The customs are also cheaper.
Good to know. I have found a custom option here and he will take requests if he doesn't have exactly what you need. I'll have to give them a try.I use a 103g hand-pulled bullet in my Dasher made here in Pa. Probably not much easier up here but we do have the odd domestic custom bullet maker. At the moment though it's more a case of buy what you can find. I'm currently looking out for powder, planning 12 months ahead of when I'll need components.Id love to shoot some Bart's but its easier to buy a wife down here then to get custom bullets like that, closes I got to that was a batch 30 JLKs that's still in my cupboard.
