I've got a small Lyman cleaner that runs 8 minutes at a time. It cleans the brass but takes a very long time involving having to restart often. So, what's your experience been with the 6 or 7.5 liter models?

the Hornady One Shot solution works very well for me. Mix 1/2 oz. to 20 oz. of water. The brass will look like new inside and out.

And if you sprinkle a little lemishine dishwasher powder on that same mixture you won't believe how much faster it gets done!

I bought an el cheapo off of ebay. It'll run 30 minutes. Four years old and still works. Harbor Freight has them also.

I have a 4 litre. I'm currently using Hornady brass cleaning fluid but am going to try RCBS fluid. It removes a fair amount of carbon from the brass but leaves just a little. IMO, this is good as it doesn't affect neck tension.

This may be over the budget, but I have one and won't trade it for the world. I mainly use it to clean gun parts and very dirty brass, or brass that has a carbon buildup inside by the flash hole. If you can afford it, it's the one to go for.

I had 2 others before getting this one (it was recommended to me)

I've been looking at that cleaner; the cleaner only, not the entire gun cleaning kit that your link references. From what I can tell, it looks like it has a 60 minute timer but no drain, correct? I'll be using mostly for brass. thanks for the reply

It doesn't have a drain. I easily dump the water (biodegradable) in my sink, and use the warm water sprayer to clean the residue from the unit. I believe it has a 20 minute timer, plus a heater (you will need to preheat the water unless you use hot water from your sink).

I have both solutions, in fact, everything you see in the picture. The cleaner works great, so does vinegar and dawn dish-washing soap. I also have the lube, put I prefer to dry out the part with compressed air, then lube myself. It's something personally about using lube mixed with water, I would rather have straight lube. If you use vinegar, don't forget to neutralize it with a baking solution soda mix or something that will neutralize the acid in the vinegar.

I works excellent on brass. The dirtier the brass is, place a smaller amount in the unit. Light duty cleaning, you can get away with putting about 50 308 cases in it. I average 25 with heavy duty cleaning. It's worth the time.

As stated, I have had 2 other units and was not satisfied. This unit came recommended, and I have been happy with it. Works great on pistols, pistol and rifle actions, & especially bolt assemblies. Sometimes I run the parts and brass through 3 cycles moving them around each cycle.

They even have stronger units, just depends if you have the $$$$.

Anything else, let me know.

PS: Sharper Tech specializes in Ultra Sonic Units of all sizes and commercial applications. I don't have any interest in the company other than they offer a good product for our sport. They also have a unit that a complete rifle will fit in. Many gunsmiths have this unit. I find they use it mostly for AR's, just take the furniture off, and place the entire unit in the tank.

I wonder what it takes to make an ultrasonic cleaner aside from a couple ultrasonic transducer, a driver and a microprocessor. It's probably just a matter of finding the right sided transducer and driver for shooting sports.
