Your 7mm F Open Bullet of Choice

Depends on the cartridge, and velocity goals. I'm looking at building a 7mm-08AI. My criteria of 2,800 fps without stressing the casing too much leads me towards the 160gr Sierra TMK. Others will obviously disagree with my choice, but i don't own a Chevy or Ford either. ;)

That shortened .284 of mine, I have running a 26.5", 8.7 twist
Bartlien. 2800 fps has been my parameters for testing. Now
I do not shoot F-Open, and only have 500 yards to work with.
I started with the 185 RDF's but had pressure problems early
on. The Berger 180's got me there, with 1/2 MOA tests. From
there, I grabbed 100 183 SMK's. When those were gone, I
bought another 1000 SMK's. When those are gone, It will be
time to spin on a 30" Brux with 8.5 twist and see if the SMK's
repeat. Again, I do not shoot F-Open, but do plan to attack
them Ridgeway steel varmints with them SMK's.

Agree with most to start with 180 hybrids, but do try others. 183 Sieras worked well in one 284 barrel.
Should trim, point and sort BTO with most all of these bullets. Steve

IIRC the 600yd 200-23x record (Jim Fowler) was shot using 184’s. I was pulling his target. He was stacking them in the upper left quadrant of the X ring. Just think how many X’s he would have had with the 180’s;)
