You can load moly coated faster? Pushing book max?

I just realized that I was loading regular Scenars from the silver jacket data.

Which put me 2 grains over listed max for the regulars. I saw no pressure signs and had planned to go higher until I noticed my mistake.

I have found one accuracy node at a lower charge weight but it puts it only in the 2600fps range and I wanted something faster.

MAX book is:

155 Scenar - N140, 43.4 /2648

155 Scenar SJ - N140, 45.5 /2805

If I scoot up 1/10 grain at a time and watch for pressure I should be OK, right?

I really don't want my 155's going slower than my 168's. Thanks

I would do just what you said. I would go up until I seen signs of pressure (sticky bolt, primer cratering, flattened primer, etc.) and then back off a little.

Thanks. I guess if I can't find an upper accuracy node before I see pressure signs I should try a different powder. Is it common to be 2 + grains over book max?

I only use the book for a safe starting point and then go until I see pressure, but yes for me it's common to be over max.

Any book is just a guide and max loads listed only truly pertain to that test barrel with those components on that particular day. Use it as a guide and derive your own load data by working up slowly. I've only had a single rifle that wouldn't take beyond max listed loads with ease. Keep in mind that temperature has a lot to do with pressure in most cases. If I work up a load in the dead of winter where I live I watch closely for pressure as the temp starts to rise.
