Yesterday I dropped off components for 6BRX and 7SAUM builds. I have a dasher. I have components for an additional build. The barrel that I have is a 1:8.5-6.5mm. I really have my mind set on a 6.5X284. It is a proven winner at 1000 yards. I know that the 6.5X47 is accurate but I like the extra horsepower of the 6.5X284. Since my twist is not 1:8 am I hamstrung by not being able to fully stabilize the 140's. Is it worth building a 6.5X284 and shooting the 120's & 130's or should I just purchase a 1:8 twist and use the full potential. Any advice is appreciated. No need to use the phrase "barrel burner" haha.
