Yesterday was my first short range BR match

Awesome job Buddy! Was fun to watch and talk to folks, shooting had to be a kick in the pants! a lot of good shooters out there in little ol’ white water

For those that want to try it and especially if you are in the North East, sign up for Bob White's Short Range Bench Rest Seminar and Clinic each year and his winter league.

Every person at the match went out our their way to say hello and ask if i deeded anything.
Indeed a great bunch of folks.
One new shooter, seen the signs and showed up on a whim Saturday afternoon. Truman Wilson talked him into coming back on Sunday and Truman brought enough gear to allow the new shooter (Ken) to shoot on Sunday. I shared my rest and bag with him and he also had a great time.
What a fun crowd!!!

Congrats, sounds like you are hooked. Thanks for sharing, hopefully it will encourage others to give it try. Cool to see you were in a great crowd too, that makes all the difference in the world.

Kind of miss watching that at Manatee. The old club bosses hosted many shoots until money got in their blood and they raised range prices and stopped it. Always enjoyed watching the reloading and all the equipment.

Now the food part reminded me of motorcycle events and rides. They take pictures of food and not the event. If I want to eat I go home and get the "old lady" to stir up some grub. I go to the range to shoot. Glad you had fun and thanks for the report. Wish more at shoots would do the same.

With all the rifles I hear about that shoot sub-0.250 MOA "all day long", it's a wonder that none of them came to this event to take all the fake wood home.

I'm pissed somebody beat me to this. Plus it's 1/4 min all day long off a bipod and a big bag hanging off their belt all the way to 1500. Paper is so boring, though.

Seriously, good to see a nice sized group of BR shooters like that. Don't think there is anything like that on this side of the hills

the mesh can be found in farm store catalogs. I get one that I pitch that always has some-for chicken houses, I think.

There is a very active club just north of you at Ault, CO. The next match there is a Sporter, Heavy Varmint match on June 9th and 10th. Should be about an hour and a half drive for you. Check out the Northern Colorado Benchrest Club, on the NBRSA website, we'd love to have you come out and shoot or check it out.

Would love to, I've always wanted to try BR, especially in the Schuetzen game. And therein lies the problem.....there are just too many cool games to play with rifles and not enough time(or $$$) to do them all.

I'm just glad to see there is such a healthy BR bunch here in CO. After all, isn't it the BR game that drives the accuracy stuff that we all strive for?

Wow, what an experience!!!!
These guys (Landsend Benchrest Club, Whitewater Colorado) even have a catered lunch........and they stop shooting to eat in a civilized manner!
Lots left to learn but I have to say, the pace was quick. Those Ol’ duffers can still Get-R-Done!
Thanks @BoydAllen for the mentoring.
I didn’t finish last, didn’t cause a safety issue, helped set flags, and had a great time.

Looks like that black gun is working for you DW
