will it hurt the bluing if you get some on the outside of the barrel ?It works well, soaked a ring on a bbl for 1.5 hrs. Lasso bore brush a few strokes and ring gone.. easy on the barrel too…
Use it every cleaning.
Is what you have from the 1970s the #1050002 ?I have not used yamaha lube but I still have a partial can of GM Top cyl cleaner from the 70's left. It is flat out the best carbon cutter I have ever used. Way too many cancer agents in it but it works. When I was in the bass fishing circuit the Yamaha stuff was what everyone ran in their 2 strokes. When you ran it threw my Mercury you did not want to be standing behind the motor when doing it. You would be completly covered in black carbon mixed in 2 stroke oil.
I let it soak for 1 hour and seen a little removal of carbon. Then I let it soak for 3 1/2 hours and seen a little more carbon removed. I also run an Iosso brush 30 strokes. I can see where it removed quite a bit of carbon out of the barrel but the carbon ring is still there. Maybe I should soak it over night ?I have my barrel soaking now and will post results later
I really don't know for sure but it has probably been there a while. I found it when my rifle wasn't shooting as accurate as it usually doesHow long have you had the ring?
Stubborn carbon ring are a PiA, Boretech eliminator is ran thru my bbls while warm at the range before I leave. I leave them semi wet, 30 minutes home.
A few passes with C4 on a patch at home, lube free soak 30 minutes via another wet patch. Scrub the throat several passes. I keep brushes clean as possible. Patch out with dry patches till clean.
My barrels stay clean, clean is good.
The lube free works better than anything else I’ve used on neglected bbls. Let it soak, it will come clean.
Do you have a bore scope, I’d like to see your carbon ring and throat area.
should I be able to get more of the carbon ring out ?
