xv III vs mark 4

i was wondering the big diffrence on the 8.5-25x50 mark 4 and the xv III. I see there is a diffrent turret but is there any thing else major that one is better than the other? or if i shuold just waite and save the extra and get the nightforce .

In my personal experience and that of other shooters that I've spoken to and shot with Leupold quality has really taken a nosedive in the past year or two.

Do yourself a very big favor and save your bucks for a Nightforce. You'll be glad that you did!

Just my .02,
Alan

I've never personally owned any IOR scopes but I have shot a few very accurate Tactical rifles equipped with IOR's that belong to some shooting buddies. I'll give you my observations on them, FWIW.

IOR's have very good optics. I like them. I understand that they use high quality German glass.

The new IOR's with the 35mm tubes are very big and heavy. They make the 50mm NXS scopes seem almost small in comparison. The 35mm tube dia. of the IOR's severely limit your choice of rings, while almost every manufacturer has 30mm rings in their lineup, ranging from cheap to the highest quality available.

I found the repeatability of the IOR's adjustments to be not as reliable as the Nightforce scopes.

I understand from two very reliable sources that there have recently been some problems with the parallax adjustments on some of the higher powered IOR scopes. They seem to change parallax with a change of magnification. A tilted reticle as I've heard it.

IOR repair service suffers from the fact that their scopes have to get sent back to Romania for service. Long time delays and a lack of communication due to the language gap makes for problems.

I'm not trying to rip up IOR's reputation, but I'd spend my money on a Nightforce every time!
