I have shot an 18”17PPC/ XP at the Cold Turkey shoot in Wyoming and loved it,however today I would build a 20PPC for an XP as it’s energy would be better for varmints at distance.Either of your choices are great.

How about a 6 Grendel 1 in 12 twist, N135 powder and 68 gn Barts . I have one in a Remiington722 action and it will shoot lights out with it.

The VT is my go to when the PD shooting starts. Mine is a 15" barrel, but either barrel you show would be great. I start with 32 Vmax and when the wind comes along, I go to 40 grainers. I run a 10 twist barrel.

What twist barrel do you have?

I'm not an XP oficionado but I did have an opportunity to buy a historically significant one, chambered in 350 Rem Mag. The 350 doesn't get much love but I'm not sure why. True, ammo is just over $100 per box of 20 but I load my own. I get my brass from 7mm mag and 300 win mag brass.
