XBR8208 in .20's

Has anyone been loading there 20 cal. with the IMR XBR8208?
I have been trying it in 222-20 and the 20TAC. I am getting
good preformance with this powder and the .20 cal.
The ser. 39BT in 1-11 twist on REM. action is what I am shooting.
I am getting 3800fps out of the 222-20 and 3940fps with the 20TAC.
I have been using the DAKOTA 20TAC brass for both rounds.
Just woundering if anyone else was loading there 20 with XBR8202.
Other powders tried were: n133,Bench Mark, H4198.

Scot--My .204 Ruger I built using a Savage right bolt, left port .223 bolt face target action has had nothing but IMR 8208 XBR shot through the barrel. My barrel is a 26" stainless steel #6 contour Lilja with a 1 in 12 twist and three grooves. I would have liked to have a 1 in 11 twist for 40 gr. projectiles, but the 39 gr. Sierra BlitzKings shoot lights out, so I'll stay with them.

I had good accuracy with both 27.4 gr. and 27.3 gr. of 8208 with the 39 gr. Sierra BlitzKing bullets coated with hBN. I'm using the 27.3 gr. load now and seating the bullets .010" off the lands. The muzzle velocity with this load is 3,887 fps. I'm using Nosler brass and turning the neck walls to .011" to .0111" in thickness for my chamber which has a .230" neck. The primer I use is the Remington 7½.

I have been pretty pleased with the 8208 powder and also use it in my .17 Remington I built on a Predator action with a #6 contour stainless steel 1 in 9 twist 4 groove Lilja barrel finished at 26". I use 25 gr. hBN coated V-Max bullets in that rifle.

Thanks s.fox
All your info is running neck in neck with my 20TAC.
27 to 27.2g for the TAC with same fps.

thanks scot g

Scot you should be able to get some good accuracy and velocity out Try the 35 Bergers and H4198 with those guns or the 38 Gr NNB bullets with H322.

I am running a 1 in 9 26 inch 20 tactical with v133 27.2 grains achieving 3720 throwing 50 grain bergers
I will also start trying 8208 in the coming months

Question

What is my starting load ?

I am running a BAT MV

Thanks

I just bought some 8208 and am looking forward to trying it in my .204's.....another hard to beat powder in the .20's is RL10X.....

I use it in 204 ruger w/ 40 grain bullets,3700 fps to 3750 fps,depending on barrel,Excellant accuracy,one of my Go to powders,besides varget and win-748

IMR 8208 is my go to powder for .20 P & .204 R with the 40 VMax and now the 39 TNT for shorter ranges. I use about a grain less than that shown for Hodgdon data for the .204 R and another grain less for the .20 P. I have 22 inch and 26 inch barrel .204's and a 24 inch .20 P. Velocities are real close for all 3. Lots of volume shooting; the 22 inch .204 has almost 3750 rounds through it and it still shoots good enough for distant small rodents. No problems at 90* plus.

I have heard that IMR8208 does not have a sharp peaky pressure curve and exhibits max pressures for a longer duration than comparable powders. Measurement of this would be beyond my ability. My usual primer is the CCI 41 and my loads have been used from just below 100* down to 10* - no problems, predictable results. My gold colored jug says, "Manufactured in Australia Packaged in USA". Everybody knows this but I thought I would mention it. I also use IMR8208 in 53 VMax loads in the .22-.250 and 155 grain loads in the .308W.

8208 works great in lots of cartridges, love it in my 223 XP-100and my comp 6ppc.I got a jug when I ran out of N-133.Its my go to choice when ever I need something in the N-133 burn rate range.Try it you’ll like it.
Matt

Use it in my 20 practical with 32gr sierra blitzkings
Also use it in my 6x45 with sierra 70 gr blizkings.

Glad I read this. I've got a jug of 8208 that I haven't opened yet. Got it to try in my 20-222, but just haven't tried it yet. It's hard to jump ship from the load I've been shooting, but the newer 8208 is posed to have mobetta properties and performance than the "old fashioned" blc-2 that I've been hooked on. jd

Love the 8208 in our 20 P's. My buddy and I have 4 of them built on Savage actions, Shilen Barrels (12 twist) with 32 Grn. Z/V max. Everyone of them likes 25.5 grns. of 8208.
