XBR 8208 - 30BR

Anyone shooting the new XBR 8208 in the 30BR? I have tried it and the accuracy was good but the velocity was way slow. 36gr = something like 2650. I have a good friend that also shot it in his 30Br and his chrony is showing upwards of 3000fps. There is a possibility that one of our chronys is showing false readings but the question is what one? I think mine is ok as y 6ppc loads are right were they should be. So i would like to know what kind of velocity you fellas are getting while shooting 8208 in your 30BR. Lee

Lee I tried to get ahold of you on BRC. Did you ever get the Lawton Ejecting short cases RELIABLY?

I think my inbox was full. To answer your question. No, Not really. I finally just took my ejector out and removed the cases by hand. Lawton actions seem to really shoot well and i think they are made nice and true and all that good stuff, but they are not as refined as some of the other actions on the market. Attention to detail is what separates action builders these days. All action makers can make nice straight actions with CNC equipment but it takes folks like Jim Borden who goes through every action he makes to insure there is no drag on the firing pin and that the ejectors work properly. Thats what makes a difference. I would suggest that you let a smith look into your problem but i can already tell you the out come. maybe you will get lucky and they can change the angle of the extractor and you will be ok, but like i said, Dont bet on it. Thanks I have a couple ideas to work with. May end up getting a different bolt with the extractor above the lug.

I have a friend that owns a lawton with a Kiff bolt and it is a fantastic set up. Good thinking on your part to go with a different bolt. Hell sell the bolt you have to fund the new one. The bolt you have will work great on standard size cases so it does have some worth. It just doesnt like the little short BR cases. Bad design! Lee
