x caliber barrels?

A good dude I know bought me a 22cal x caliber barrel blank. These barrels don't cost a lot but looking at the inside with my bore scope I must say I was impressed.
The blank came as a 1.250 straight barrel and I would like to contour it for remington varmint. I sent an email asking x caliber if they would contour it but no reply.
Anyone here shooting these barrels? What's your thoughts? Lee

Yep...got a .22 cal straight 1.25 blank. It looks nice through a borescope. Machines very nice. Cleans up very well. Shooting wise, still working on a load, but sure looks promising. I believe contouring runs $50...I this that is what I was told on the phone.

Reamer bushing wise, make sure you have bushing sizes .2190 and up. I think I ended up using a .2192 or .2194.

I have chambered barrels were a .2184 or .2186 bushing fit and they shoot extremely well. I notice Ridgeway used a .2194 bushing on his latest barrel. Does anybody have any thoughts on the accuracy of a barrel with a smaller verses larger minor diameter? We are pushing the same size bullet down the tube.

Did you fit the bushings in the end of the blank first and/or make sure it fits in throat area? I mine was tight on the ends, but not a .2184 tight! I figured I would use what you used and had the std 22 caliber bushing set on hand and my set went up to .2190. I was surprised I had to go so large. Shooting wise, seems promising so far.

I specifically asked if they knew what size bushing to use and did not. I was told that was a good question, lol.

Anyhow, for the price...its nothing to complain about. I'd buy another...

I start with a bushing that will just start in the breach end. Then I start going down in size until I find one that will slide the lenth of the barrel or at least past where I'm going to chamber. My experience has been if it will fit the first three inches it will slide the entire length of the barrel.

I slugged mine an I was impressed. I didn't measure the bore yet but it felt very consistent. The finish was also extremely nice. had to believe actually considering these barrels only cost 120$, plus another 50 if I don't taper it myself.
I could taper it myself but I am a little worried I might relieve to much stress, or cause stress or turn it into a banana. LOL!!
I sent an email and they will taper it for me, but the fella didn't mention a price. for 50 bucks ill let them do it. that way if it goes south im off the hook. I think this barrel will make for a real nice field/hunting rig. 22-250AI or a 22dasher hmmmm!!!

… i have one getting installed now, will be a few weeks before i post results . but i can tell you from the borescope of mine that i seen, thay make a good barrel. for a stainless match barrel for the price i think its hard to beat. ill post results soon …..

A good barrel is a good barrel. I doubt that the air gage ea. barrel.

I bought 6 of their barrels and have two install so far and am extremely happy, 20 rimmed vartarg and 20 ackley/killer bee on martini actions I have both 20 cal and 22 cal rem varmint conture to chamber next. have not bought any cal bigger yet. I have spoken to them about air gauging and the answer was "we stand behind every barrel, shoot it, if you don't like it send it back" L.sherm is on this forum a lot, he works there

Their barrels are completely stress relieved after production. They have a giant high temp oven that they bake them in for many hours to relieve all of the stresses caused by the button rifling.

The nice finish you see inside the barrel is because they are fully hand lapped.

And yes, they shoot very well

had 2 they shoot pretty good, got a 260AI right now shoots at .5 and if I could shoot it would shoot better, X Cal be perfect for FTR
