WVU rifle team starting well.

K
60 shots @ 10 meters for air rifle and 3x20 @ 50 feet for smallbore.
Thank you.

Bit different from the British uni matches back in my day: postal team and individual match 10 rounds of 10 shots indoors (mostly 25 yards) and a double Dewar outdoors (latterly at Appleton, where the Pershing team trial have just been held). The Scottish unis had a shoulder-to-shoulder league: teams of 8, 2x10 indoors, and a double Dewar outdoors.

Mountaineers are back as the #1 team in the Nation. They shoot against Memphis on Sunday.
Kentucky is #2, TCU is #3, Univ. of Alaska Fairbanks #4, and Air Force Academy is #5.
The daughter of one of our members is trying to decide between TCU and West Virginia. She is one of the best Junior International shooters in the World. Both schools would love to have her.

WVU is at the top year after year. Makes me proud to be a Mountaineer. Our local club here in NC had a grumpy old fellow that shot very well. When I always had my WV hat on, Ray would ask me why I wore the WV hat. Of coarse I told him that I was born and bleed Mountaineer blue and gold. His son shot for the Mountaineers and done very well, he then went on to AMU and the Olympics where he shot very well. I believe he finish with the Army as a Major. Michael used to stop by at the club from time to time. I think Michael is head shooting coach someplace. Ray left our club and I have not heard from Ray in years, but I can still hear Ray asking myself in his northern accent, Tommy why do you have the WV hat on. Great shooter for sure and a WVU Mountaineer.

Mike Anti is the head coach of the US Naval Academy since 2017.

And his grandson, Will, who also shot for WVU, is the head rifle coach at The University of Alaska Fairbanks
I met Will in 2016 while visiting coach Jon Hammond. He is the son of Mike. I was in Morgantown for my Grandson's football game with OU.

Ray would be proud. I liked Ray, he was a great fellow with a lot of wisdom about the sport. I don't remember if I ever met Will at our club, he would have been small back then. Glad to hear that he followed in great steps, a natural and a Mountaineer. I used to live across the river from Morgantown. This time of year makes it harder for me, sure wish I was in the hills with the leaves starting to turn, fall is in the air. Go EERS !!
