WTB Anschutz firing pin

Need a firing pin for a Anschutz 54 series 1407, 1408, etc. My firing pin follows thru when just starting to close the bolt. I've tried new catch and catch lever in the trigger but that didn't cure the problem. I'm left with thinking it must be the firing pin engagement with the trigger. I can't think of anything else. For what it's worth, when you pull the bolt handle up and it cocks the firing pin and trigger, then just start to push the bolt handle down, just a few thousands of an inch, you hear a click and the firing pin indicator goes forward. I've had the bolt and trigger both completely apart and done a thorough cleaning.

Sorry for getting off topic of needing a firing pin, but thought the information might help someone help me!

Adjust your sear.

With the muzzle to the left. Turn the rifle upside down - trigger guard facing up. Insert the proper sized Allen wrench through the hole in the trigger guard into the Allen screw on the trigger. Turn 1/2 turn to the right and see if that does the trick. Easy Peasy.

Jim,

Does indicator jump forward? or it just goes to the uncock home position? I would look at sear and or weight of pull adjustments. best way to adjust the sear is make so it won't catch then add a little at a time till it catches then about 1/8-1/2 turn further. remember they need to be balanced out when making adjustments. can't just adjust sear without the weight of pull too.

I just had to adjust a friend's which had the same problem.

Merlin - Mine has a slotted screw there instead of an Allen screw. Hope that does not make a difference.

WK4036 - I'm aware that firing pins are no longer available (from the factory). There probably is a stash of Anschutz parts around the country that people no long need. I'm hoping to find one of those!

Hi-NV shooter - I'm not sure to give you an honest answer. When the trigger is in the rifle, the loaded indicator goes forward when you just start to lock the bolt down. Same thing when the trigger is removed from the rifle. So then I removed the bolt altogether and manipulated it by hand holding the bolt itself in my left hand and with the right hand starting to lock the bolt handle down. Still makes a click sound and the loaded indicator snaps forward, I presume releasing the firing pin. The bolt is stamped with the last three digits of the serial number matching each other. One thing I haven't done, (dah! me) is to look and see if the firing pin is visible at the front of the bolt face to see if the pin is REALLY going forward. I've just been watching the loaded indicator.

I'll keep all of you posted if I find anything. Thanks so very much to all of you for your input. I appreciate your help very much.
