Wsm savage pta

Is that a short or long action?
And are you looking to get a ptg bolt head?
What cartrige was the action made for?

Savage precision target action, short, right bolt right port standard bolt head .
If the short action Wsm bolt doesn't fit, he will he will get a pta

Yes the wsm bolt head should work or the ptg mag bolt head for a short action will.
I would still make sure you have the right firing pin protrusion also.

THe PTG bolt head is a standard short action length. The factory WSM bolt head is a little bit longer.

Would factory bolt head, have firing pin lenght problem or is it all with in pin adjustment

The firing pin should have plenty of adjustment as long as the bolt head came from a short action.
Or made for a short action. If it's a long action bolt head the shank will need about .100 taken off the shank and the firing pin lead in chamfer recut.
The shank on the long action bolt head is about .100 longer but the cross pin hole is in same position.
This is just what I have learned.
use at own risk
If you are using a Smith to do the work he should know this all.
If you are doing the work yourself make sure you understand it all with plenty of research and all that is needed.

Reamer question
Want to chamber 22-250 to 22-243 !
What type of reamer ? A finishing reamer, or would I need a series of reamers ? I have also heard of two different types, obviously want the best results
Any information will be new territory for me
Floating or fixed I think it was ,
Steve
