Wrong powder - same number - boom

+1 more for Rick.
Long ago I got it in my head that match ammo shot best when it was "hot off the press". Even my stuff for Perry was loaded just a few days before it was placed in my cooler/luggage for the flight to the lower 48.
My procedure is to take out my well labeled jug of the powder I intend to use. I fill my hopper and set the Jug I just used directly behind the hopper. When I have finished loading the shells that I will need, I empty the hopper back into the jug that it came out of and put it away under my bench. I have been loading since the middle '50s and this system has worked for me.

Good man putting the rifle down after the first shot.
Ironically I came here today to post my recent stupidity.
It is so easy to make mistakes even when you have all the experience in the world.

My Dad taught me reloading starting in 1948 and what he stressed was two things......(1) don't use the wrong powder and (2) don't over-load or push outside the pressure envelope!! :-[ :'(

I'm getting "older". Moving too fast, not clearing my work area, and "I know what I'm doing" cause me the most problems. Worst I've done, so far, is used Large rifle primers instead of large pistol. Caught it and lost some primers but knock on wood. I usually Sit, calm, proceed slowly, and check everything twice or three times, just to be sure. One powder, one bullet weight, etc, on the bench at one time. 35 yrs. and no BOOM yet.

I had a KABOOM with a 1911 yrs ago. Double charged a hot load to start with with W231. Broke the gun and my face ended up bleeding from dozens of little cuts from the brass that blew out between the frame and slide. If I hadn't been wearing shooting glasses I would have had serious damage to both eyes. (the poly carbon glasses were ruined).

These days my biggest bugabo is that I load with Varget and H4350, and the bottles look so much alike it drives me to check 3 or 4 times every time i reload. I'm sure it would not be as dramatic as popping off a case full of pistol powder, but I have to image that if I ever shot a 308 case with a compressed load of Varget behind a heavy for class bullet in a 308 it would not be a good day at the range.

Check, recheck.
