Wouldn't Believe it Unless I Saw It!

Texas 10 , you know I think that applies to other rifles. My son has a Weatherby vanguard 300 win mag. It is stock. it was shooting then quit. Happened to flip it over and checked the screws and they had worked loose. I then read there is a torque spec and I re-torqued them and it was back to normal.

Time and again, after listening to how their Savage used to shoot great, but now doesn't, I find action screws that are one to two turns loose of snug.

Years ago I called the Sierra bullets tech line to ask for some information and while we were talking I mentioned that I had a Savage rifle. Tech said to take some advice and told me how
to install the action screws. Boy was he right.

I have a Savage 116 Weather Warrior in 7mm-08. I’ve tried 5 different factory loads. None will shoot better 1.5”, many were worse.

A young Amish boy asked me about buying a centerfire rifle for PA deer hunting. I told him go to Cabela's, buy their Savage with scope "special" in 6.5 CM, a box of GOOD ammo, not the el cheapo stuff and you'll be good to go.

What is the twist of your barrel? I have a Savage/ Steven's 7-08 that for some ridiculous reason they put 1-11 twist on them. I shoot 120 Nosler BT in it for Deer hunting, it lays them out.
