For those who want to participate, you will need 30 pre-loaded cases of your caliber of choosing. Course of fire: max if 5 sighters. Start 25 shot score record (no more sighters can be taken). Note: after each shot is taken, there will be a 7 second delay until the next shot can be taken. Go to Adam McDonald's web site and check out the video. https://autotrickler.com/pages/shotmarker

Are you benchrest shooters ? we have been using shotmarker for Highpower for a few years now and for what we do it's probably fine but when we calibrated the targets this year the location of recorded hits on the shotmarker was different than the targets, by this what I saw was groups shot on the paper when we went down range to check location that were not identical to groups indicated by the shotmarker so measuring groups to very small measurements I would not trust to the machine

Shotmarker can easily be calibrated at dead on the X. Most use an offset, say 1 MOA high, so that the center is not shot out quickly. I am not sure bench shooters will ever trust the Shotmarker… we have played it andn its darn accurate.

It was not the location of the shots relative to what the shotmarker claimed, it was the spread of the shots that did not jive when we looked at the target. In a couple of cases there were two shots within 3/4 inch of each other and at a diagonal but the shot marker did not record them as they were on the target. There was a 6 or 7 mph wind and the person who is most familiar at our range with the shotmarker claimed they were not super accurate when the wind blows. we have tied back the frames and had much better luck with them but at the last match out of 80 shots, 2 of mine were not recorded . I would say that for 8 shooters shooting 80 shots apeice in a match the norm would be 1 shot not recorded and when we started with them I don't think I ever shot all 80 shots and had the thing record all of them. in rapid fire we have decided to shoot every other target so there is a one target gap between targets being fired on and that seems to work better but far from reliable. the last match we shot in my shotmarker showed 9 shots instead of 10 and I am very confident the error wasn't mine. It happens so often that our remedy is to average the scored shots and give the shooter the average point.

Just to this point, several others have measured displacement of location of shots as shown by Shotmarker vs the paper target. As I remember, the displacements varied from shot to shot and were different by as much as tenth's of an inch. The direction of the displacement varied +/- to the center of the target.

For 'cross the course' broadly these results are completely fine [recognizing some people still have pain with them].

For benchrest, to me it seems completely unacceptable.

We have been using Shotmarkers at our clubs group matches for 2 years now, however we only use them as “backers” to verify the correct # of shots.
The NBRSA allowed us to use them for a 1 year trial period and then refused to consider them going forward even though we demonstrated a 99.97% accuracy over the course of the trial period. Apparently that was not good enough (although we never got the official reason) because everyone knows that moving paper backers are infallible!
We no longer shoot NBRSA matches and I personally am no longer a member.
As to the accuracy, based on my rather extensive experience they are surprisingly good, just not good enough for measuring 100/200 yd groups. Then again I’ve seen a fair amount of hand measuring that is highly questionable. There really is a skill level required to do it well.
